post-4755-1100116706_thumb.jpgI picked up my new T on Sat 30 Oct. The following day we headed off to QLD for a family hoilday. The car is now 12 days old as has clocked up 3000kms. I have been very impressed with the car so far. No noticable diff clunks but the car did cut out once at the top of first gear (overboost ?). The sustained giggle from my 7 year old son after I gave it a short squirt was priceless. Beats the Late model camira ad with the grinning kid hands down.

The 6-speed is very precise and the ratios seem to be very well matched. The auto headlights feature is nice but IMO I think it needs a brighter threshold before they turn on. eg. Driving back from QLD in the pouring rain at about 4:00pm - bad visibility but they didn't turn on when I believe the conditions warranted it.

I have attached some pics for those who like to watch.

Cheers

Peter

The fuel economy has varied from 17+ litre/100km around down and fang mode

It did average (according to the trip computer) at 10.6 on the trip back from QLD (freeway conditions with 90% cruise control). I did notice some surging in top gear when on the cruise control going down a slight decline. On my previous car (a EB Fairmont auto) this was not noticeable.

Yep, have exactly the same thing in my Series I BA and manual gearbox. Most of my driving is highway and I am now in the habit of turning off the cruise control on hills that induce the surging. It seems that the cruise control picks up the throttle just a little too much and then completely drops off. In an auto it is probably not noticeable, in a manual it is poor. It is probably the worst CC I have come across in a manual (apart from the very early ones). Mind you, having said that, I could not live without CC and I use it extensively.

I have an ENVI XR6T mk I auto, and I have not noticed it. In fact, the CC is so much better in this car than my previous AUII that I am in heaven. I, too, could not live without CC.

Hello All,

I have had my MKII XR6T 6speed for one and a half weeks now. I am luv'in it so far... Except the diff/drivetrain/gear or whereever the clunking sound is can get annoying at times.

Got a front grill coming. Got 3 turbo stickers on it car also.

I was told by a "mate" that you could buy new BA XR8 bonets for not much at all (about $600)? Is this true? Maybe all I need is a link to a good thread.

Anyways at work got to get back to the grindstone.

I have been using BP premium fuel adn have found that I get about 13k/litre (on the computer) around town (Canberra) if I drive it carefully adn with the occassional tramp of the right foot. Compared toother fuels, BP seems to give better performance and economy.

Any one thought of putting air intakes on the bonnet to assist with hot air expulsion form the engine bay. (like the old XB bonnets)? Just curious...

I think you will find the xr8 bonnet is closer to $1200 unpainted, it may be a better bet to buy the carbon fiber XR8 bonnet for $900 unpainted.
