Chris .... I too thought svtang had left the building ... but came across this thread this morning and couldn't help myself .. :D

I was crazy with feelings of hard done by and sorry for myself for awhile :( but now am enjoying both cars heaps :D the way I should've been all along <_<

Cobra vs XRT .... the Cobra for raw impact (it's a real-in-your face beast) ... the XRT for ease of driveability and smooth power

performance ... once you get the Cobra under control ... it is the faster car with more feel

after the XRT gets modded ... no contest

Pity the build quality of the 'stang isn't as good as the XR.

I was privy to part of the build process of the sprintex V10 Mustang a couple of years back, and it is a bit (read lot) ugly underneath the cosmetics.

Like you say BLKXRT, once the XR is 'rodded, no contest.

Hey guys, its not only Ford that do stuff like this, How pissed off would you have been, if you were a Expensive Daewoo Fan and purchased the last of the stroked 5.7 Expensive Daewoo V8 GTS @220kw, $85,000, only to be blown off by the 5.7 GenIII SS @225kw, $40,000, and that wasnt even a body upgrade, that was only series1 to series 2. that's when Ford should have hit them where it hurts, cause there would have been alot of very pissed HSV owners. Ive seen the Stroked GTS's for sale in Unique Cars and they cant give em away!!

Well I have finally got the Cobra and what can I say.....

AWESOME!!!!!

It's silver with charcoal interior and I'm currently getting some black sill stripes made (as per the original style Mustang).

Having driven the car (apart from the engine) I must honestly say that the Cobra has been given a bit of a bad rap by the motoring press. It has a very linear power delivery, the 'box is a bit notchy but it picks up the relevant gear very well, the clutch feels 'manly' and the brakes are very progressive.

In fact the brake pedal and the overall retardation of the car is exactly how a driver should brake. It is possible to push the pedal to the floor without activating ABS and this is the sign of a good braking system. Don;t misunderstand what I say, the pedal doesn't go to the floor, however, once the inital compression of the suspension is made with the initial pedal application, you can increase the pedal pressure progressively and have awesome stopping distances with no ABS activation.

Basically it is like doing a 'stoppie' in a car instead of a motor bike.

I have found the trim to be pretty good and commensurate with a particular style of car that draws on its heritage in its design and outloook. The panel fit isn't too bad.

The car handles VERY well with good turn in, no tendency for roll oversteer or ploughing understeer. The balance is pretty good but it is no Alfa 147!

A thoroughly great car at a bargain price of 59 AUD drive away. I certainly can't complain at that.

I do, however, certainly empathise with those that bought Mustangs upon their release.

HOWEVER.

: These are the ONLY factory RHD Mustangs in the world.

: The Mustang has a massive following and loyalty throughout Australia and the US, so as with any car, after the initial depreciation they will retain their core value.

: There will always be someone who wants a Factory RHD Ford Mustang Cobra (remember it is not the poverty pack Mustang GT) and this car is prepared by SVT (Special Vehicles Team) from the US, and that makes the car a little bit more special than a private import or import that has been converted locally.

For those Mustang owners amongst us, don;t give up! Keep the car and watch the rarity of it increase.

There will ALWAYS be someone who is willing to pay for a Factory RHD Mustang Cobra SVT !!!!!

plonky ... the $$$ is water under the bridge for SVTANG/BLKXRT .... the convertables stayed higher in $$$ than the coupes ... the last convertables went out the door for $69990 to $74990 ... so had a year jump to spend a further $20k to get it up from 170rwkw to 230rwkw atm and expecting 320rwkw in about a fortnight :) (when the snail pack arrives) ....

the early coupe buyers suffered most from Ford's folley .... and the dealer who sold me the stang has looked after me "beyond well" ... probably saved atleast a further $5k in unexpected discounts on the cars that were bought since then (thanks KnoxFord  ) ....

the braking and traction control is far superior in the Cobras than the BAs ...

handling in the coupe is good for a "yanky car" , the flex in the convertable is annoying (and hair-raising) but I'm yet to find a convertable sub $100k with that grunt that is any better ..... Koni shocks and Herrod springs helped a great deal.... the wheel-hop of the IRS drove me crazy ... but the Konis helped again ... actually I think the amount of power I've got now, the baby doesn't get a chance to hop ... just lights up the tyres

enjoy your car plonky ... hours of fun ahead ... cheers

I purchased a brand new auto TE50 last month for $45900. The last unregistered TE50 in the country. These cars were $58,000 plus onroads 62ish last year. Market value with my insurance company is $49,000. Cheapest price I could get a stock Ba xr8 was $51,300 on the road.

What they have done to Mustang owners is disgraceful
