Posted 03/12/04 01:36 PM Share Posted 03/12/04 01:36 PM Well things were no different for the Xr6T either really. It has good off the mark times, Ok when compared to the GT, but its in-gear acceleration, like the Phoon, is very strong. Heck I think they Turbo is a much better road car than a drag car because it performs incredibly well riding through the gears and pulling hard uphill etc. But these are cars that need to be kept in their power bracket or they just don't perform anywhere near as well. My assumption is that the 0-100 time scale and 400m don't do these cars justice and it's probably because of their lag and weight.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>How the *beep* would you know about drag cars, you've never done it. You have only a piece of paper telling you you have a powerful car. Imagine if the dyno had a bad day that day and you actually have 250rwkw's. You'd never know. Now to the rest of you lot. Whats with picking on poor Steve. that's my job. Sure he has both feet in his mouth up to his knees, but its my job to let him know. We know that Steve can read magazines and that is where his technical knowledge comes from. If "MOTOR" say its so it must be so. Geea.

Imagine if the dyno had a bad day that day and you actually have 250rwkw's. You'd never know. Here we go again. Every thread of this type has to degrade into personal crap because geea has insecurities. Doesn't the great life with all those women in bars do enough for you, bud?Draging cars doesn't have to take place on a track, fool. In fact, putting your foot to the floor, which is what I was talking about, can be done anywhere. Look up a driving manual (damn, forgot you have trouble reading...) and see for yourself. My point, which others have made, is that the T is strongest over rolling acceleration which isn't naturally shown over quarters and 0-100's.As for my car, don't you worry about that chump. Just stick to yours with your cat punching, yellow brick road brakes and hairdryer swticthes and all will be fine Now to the rest of you lot. Whats with picking on poor Steve. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Haha. that's funny. Not my recollection of events old chum. All of the threads we have been involved with end with me opening a can of whoop arse on you. You do your usual whammi crap and leave. It's not hard to do either, craig, I just have to repost what you say, Simple as that.If you want I can post links just in case you can't use the search fucntion.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Stevie, Stevie, Stevie. I keep throwing out the bait cause you keep biting. I only logged on this morning to see your reply. It was worth it. I now have a smile on my face that will last the whole day. If you could post some links that would be great. That will provide me with some more entertainment latter. Got some bad news with the cat punching though. My car has a 4"cat that don't need punching. I do kick the cat on the porch though when it meows to much maybe that will do. Maybe now I could be an ex cat puncher and a current cat kicker. Now for this crap you have stated about GT's and standing starts. How many have you actually raced in a standard or near standard T. Ah not many I hear you say, possibly none. I have raced Gt's both at the track and on the street. When I had my first car I raced the GT out of the GT movie more than a few times at Calder. This car had lots of Herrod mods including a chip I believe. I had 2nd CAI and no centre muffler (total mods of $350ish). Both cars were auto. My car would run with his no worries and his car actually came home over the top of me whilst I got away from him early.I also ran my car against a GTP from NewOak Ford. GTP was stock and mine had 2nd CAI and no centre muffler. We had 4 runs 3 we launched together and I pulled 2-3 car lengths. The 4th run he jumped me at the start and then I drove past him. This is my first hand experience not stuff from a magazine. The stock auto T will not lose to a stock auto GT from a standing start. I have photo's and time slips of the GT runs at Calder if you'd like proof. What are your personal experiences racing near stock "T's" against GT's. I look forward to hearing them.Bottom line is that the GT is not quicker of the line than a T and if that's the case it's definately not going to be quicker than a Typhoon. From a standing start or a rolling start.P.S. Keep entertaining me Steve, people pay good money to be entertained as much as you entertain me. Geea. Get real: gooff:I haven't been in a phoon yet. I also don't need to be embarassed about anything. I'm stating figures from the mags, not my own findings.People like to refute these figures, but until we have more data I don't see how it's possible to say anything else. When any data does come I welcome it.Mate I will never never never waste my money on another Wheels mag. They either got a very crook or de-tuned car or they can't drive (which I don't believe is the case) or they are trying to keep their 2 biggest advertising revenue customers happy. What was written in the Wheels magazine was pure sh!t as far as I am concerned. Not only should you not believe everything you read as far as those mags are concerned don't believe ANYTHING you read. Doc, you have hit the nail on the head.Geeseman once again your arguments are based on peices of paper and possible biased ones at that. If you understood the corperate industry (not iT) you would understand that Ford fund the likes of wheels and motor alongside of their conterparts Holden. This is fact. Why when they launch a car are these magazines the first to receive the said cars and do articles on them? Sales and profit for the car manufactures and nothing else.If you actually put down your peices of paper and drove the cars you would understand what people on the thread are saying. No matter what your peices of paper say I have not seen a Gt or the like beat a T, comparing apples with apples I.e modded against modded and stock against stock. I have raced down the qtr against GT's that have had upwards of 10g spent on them with that have not seen one break a 13.5qtr.If you took the time to go and drive a typhoon then get into a Gt, they are two different cars that deliver their power and handling in two very distinctive ways. The Typhoon is alot faster than the GT, all you have to do in drive the thing, nomatter what your little articles say.All ford are doing via their influence in the media is protecting their flagship brand the GT. It's the same when subaru first luanched their STi a claimed 206kw, yet every car that was tested was in the vacinity of 230-240 odd. They did this to protect the WRX and also the fact at that time there were restrictions and tax implications on cars exceeding 210kw.All people are saying is peices of paper down mean a thing in today business environment, things are done for reasons within a big company like ford, and in the amount of influence that is placed by said company's on industry etc is immense. As indicated many a time figures on paper do not mean when you factor in many things, get in it, test it, run it down a qrt or similar and that is your true representation. They are the enemy not Ford supporters. Keep up the insults and your positng priveledges are gone..............BTW the lower the RPM peak torque is deleiverd the better the car goes. Its one of the reasons the T slaughters the LS1 between 80 - 160 KPH. 0-100 times don't always reflect te overall perfomance of the car. How much time to do you spend dragging against more general driving? For those of you who havent driven or owned a T its hard for you to generalise until you drive it. Do the board a favour and go drive it then comment.Dallas

Editing forums can be quite tiresome.BLAH, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH - Equity mate? - Edited for the sake of sanity by Geeseman. This is my first hand experience not stuff from a magazine. The stock auto T will not lose to a stock auto GT from a standing start. I have photo's and time slips of the GT runs at Calder if you'd like proofWe are talking about the series 2 GT here. Also you may have beated a series 1 GT but that's irrelevant. You'd need to race the two head 2 head with identical driver skill and conditions. This is what the mags have done and rated the GT quicker. I can't say if this is right or wrong but it stands up better than your findings because it's an independant test.Oh, and if opening up a can of whoop arse on you is entertaining you really need to get a life. If you actually put down your peices of paper and drove the cars you would understand what people on the thread are saying. I'm not saying these figures are right or wrong. They sound about right to be based on past figures, but until we have any more stats that show discrepancies we can't really say much. I haven't driven a series 2 XRT nor a series 2 GT, but I'm not talking about my opinions here just whats printed. If you ask me there are far too many people wishing to believe that they are incorrect when they haven't even driven either car. You can look at it either way.
