I have lost my faith in car mag tests. I really believe they (in Australia) are capable of testing them subjectively.

I think you need to drive it and see. Dont rely on the publshed numbers. They will be crap and rigged.

For those who think the F6 is quicker than any Ford or Expensive Daewoo V8, sorry to disappoint you but check the quoted LS2 Clubsport performance times:

Quoting November 2004 Motor magazine on page 64, according to HSV:

Manual:

0-100km/hr: 5.2s

0-400m : 13.5s

Top speed: 270km/hr (gearing-limited)

Auto:

0-100km/hr: 5.1s

0-400m : 13.3s

Top speed: 274km/hr (drag-limited)

Personally, if I do get an F6, I will wait for the hopefully quicker (hopefully by 0.3-0.5 s over quarter mile) Auto version late next year that might get close to these HSV times.  In the meantime, the street legal sub 5 0-100km/hr, 12 seconds 1/4 mile APS Phase II XR6T will do me just fine.   :w00t2:

Safe and happy driving...Dr Z.  :w00t2:

Dr Z,

You'll be waiting a long time, because the manual version will always be faster.

Turbo6man, good to see that you have had the persistence and patience to continue this argument - it's been a long time since I was here and able to give you any backup.

The argument was, and has always been, man vs auto in a standard car. Forget magazine road testers, put the cars side by side on the track ten times. The auto will win most of the runs but at the end of the day the fastest time posted will be by the (inconsistent) manual.

Interesting to see a 13.6 run by a std boost/ exhaust T. So this car was totally std? Was this time done on street tyres? If so that's damn quick.

Almost a year ago (I'm sure plenty of people already know this) I ran a totally stock street tyred T on a very hot 36 degree day @ the Motorplex to a 13.9. I missed a gear on an earlier run that was quicker at half track by almost two tenths so a 13.7 was on the cards. I would have loved to run the car on a cool night. At the time no one had done a sub 14 so it's good to see that the cars are loosening up and that more of 'em are getting to the track.

I told you all ages ago. . .stuff the Typhoon - spend the money on an XR6T and it'll absolutely destroy it. . .the Typhoon is a wank !

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

:ermm:

At the risk of being flamed, abused and bombarded with negatives. What is the point of getting all emotional about what some test driving clown from a rag has to say :censored: I have driven the series 2 GT and the F6 and I have a 265rwkw series 1 GT.

Try the car yourself before you worry about wank, or hating ford or cursing FPV. Those clowns were the same idiots that gave the XR6T the car of the year or was it Motor mag? :ermm:

I have driven all three and the series 2 GT is much quicker than the series 1 GT, but there is no way the series 2 GT is quicker than the Typhoon, either off the mark or accelerating at 160 kph, if it was I wouldn't have bought the Typhoon. Make no mistake the Typhoon is a bloody quick car in any gear at any speed and with all the other goodies in it I don't think it can fairly be compared to the T and it doesn't get limited at 220. But then again if it isn't quick enough one can ponder on why the FORD GOD invented UNICHIPS, EXCEDE's and bigger injectors then hop on down and have them fitted. Then any V8 is gonna need something real special to even have a remote chance. :glad:

Mr Walker, that is not the experience we have with the XR6T's in straight-line performance whether they are stock or modded and since the F6 is just a slightly modded XR6T in terms of performance capability, with what logical justification can we expect the F6 to turn the tables in a manual version?

Interesting, I have also driven both the 6 speed GT 2 and Typhoon and I found the GT to be a quicker car and more lively car. This was one of the reasons why I bough the GT. I am wondering if you had driven the 6 speed GT or the auto.

Either way, considering yours and other peoples comments, I am going back to ford to see if I can get another test drive of the Phoon. I could have possibly had a dud on the day.

Hi wrx365.

It was a manual series 2 GT it was much better than the series one but still not as quick as the Typhoon, didn't feel it to me anyways. A set of bigger injectors and a UNICHIP and the F6 will be a fearsome rocket me thinks :msm:
