I just do not understand why everyone gets so worked up about 1/4 and 0-100 times. I mean really, most of the people who buy this car will not ever take it to the track. They also do not care much for the .2sec difference between the HSV or whatever. It is the look and feel of the car that will sell it.

While I do not think would buy one as my car is only 5 months old, I think Ford have done a good job with this car, they could have done more, but that still leavs room for people who like to Mod.

Why do we always end up comparing the Typhoon with the T, its like comparing the XR8 witht he GT, they are made for different segments of the market.

Oh and Auto drivers are lazy and slow

I have a very serious question.

Who is the girl- woman -lady- in BlownBA signature?

Well the pictuer says Aria.gif

So I stuck aria in google, and found she is aria giovanni.

The loudest, and those with the largest signatures, probably do so because of some major deficiancy in their mental wellbeing and self esteem. And they'll do almost anything to better past efforts and speak out against those who don't agree with them and their sad religion :spoton:

Talk about sweeping generalisations! Just because some of us enjoy the 1/4 do not assume that we are all tarred with the same brush. I enjoy the night out and the chance to better my own time. I do not force this chose "religion" upon any one and do not door nock handing out the WSID equivalent of the Watchtower.

In regards to the size of signatures equalling mental & personal stability, I do not have a self esteem problem and after my last inkblot test I was classed a SANE, I am however proud of the fact that I have run a 13.6 in a stock boost/exhaust XR6T.

Pick your fights with your chosen protaganist but be ready for s#it fight if you want to bring other members into fray.

I'm with you Zap. I don't get in my car to drive 400m. And I don't buy a car because of how quickly it may go 400m. BUT I do like to debate the pros and cons of "performance" cars and the XR6T and Typhoon are unashamed performance cars. So while I don't get worked up over the "times" as such, I do get enthused over the arguments surrounding such things. I like to put my point of view and to hear that of others. So I suspect do most people here, and I'm probably not much different from yourself.

PS I do think you're right about auto drivers :talktohand::spoton:

And then you can come back to me with where I mentioned manuals being "superior". I didn't use "better" either. Another of your terms. I used the word "faster" as I remember. There is a distinct difference in my mind, but maybe to you it's all the same???

The point we were talking about before you entered the debate was the speed of an auto or manual car and which is faster. the terms better, and superior are in refrence to the speed of the car with the transmission, not ones taste in transmission. They are all the same for the point I was making in refrence to yours. I don't wish to debate tastes on which someone prefers.

The only assumption I made about your post was that, as you referred to cars tested by mags, I 'assumed' you were talking about standard cars. Sorry if the mags you were referring to were testing Stage 11 APS cars or whatever.

I was referring to motor mags results and how they are different from track times. It was a question, Jeff. Before that JB made the point of autos lowering times. I only commented when you said manuals are faster.

And while we're playing "point the .

I still dont see any evidence for your claim that manuals are faster. Is there anyone out there with a manual T that has a fast time under 14s?

Um, yes there is. Even if we are talking factory, there has been a 13.8 run.

At the end of the day Manuals seem to get better power, auto's are quicker. Manuals can handle more kw before requiring modifications, auto's cannot. Not detracting what alot of the auto guys have achieved but to also get a manual down the quarter requires much more skill which I myself am yet to master but it can be done. With a very good driver I believe a manual can be as quick but it takes alot more effort to achieve the same times.

Just my 2c...

*wades into the fray*

As I began reading "Auto v Manual" Part 69, it occurred to me I could go two ways:

1. Carefully explain the concept of turbocharging and how keeping the loud pedal on all the time in an Auto is far more likely to give quicker performance times than a Manual, at least in theory without wacky gearing exceptions, that is, all other things being equal.

OR

2. Issue a challenge for someone to explain how, in theory, a Manual transmission, all other things being equal, is expected to have quicker performance times in a turbocharged car with the power/torque levels of F6 and other modified cars compared to a decent Auto transmission.

Keep the Auto v Manual driver enjoyment debate out of this, just strictly link it to performance times, because IMHO, everything I know about turbocharging tells me that the F6 would have better performance times in a decently capable Auto transmission.

I chose NOT to do number 1 because I did not want to risk insulting anyone's intelligence or subjecting them to stuff most people know, so that just leaves number 2. If anyone is up to that challenge, feel free to enlighten us. :spoton:

Safe and happy driving...Dr Z. :talktohand:
