Ya look into the eyes of an HSV owner & realise why we don't own them, I think they are in a trance, especially when we dissapear off into the distance.Scotty<{POST_SNAPBACK}>You mean you are able to look through beanie material???vik Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/13785-torque-gets-heated/page/2/#findComment-183184 Share on other sites

Marketing is what sells cars, not necessarily actually having a better car. It's the perception of the other car being better because it can do circle work in the paddock or burnouts and the like rather than a bunch of sappy Ford execs pretending to be celebrities. Now I know there's a lot of people on the Ford side of the fence that think the same.Whether the newcomers to the Ford brand (like myself) want to recognise it or not there is a huge number of 'bogans' out there that are born and bred to love one brand and hate another. These are the people that HSV/Holden/HRT pretty much exclusively markets too, and they can do so becuase these people have money to buy the product in spades. Think about it - most of the Expensive Daewoo v8 ads of late involve either posing, or doing circle work. The Ford ads tend to show more open road spirited driving, a fair indicator that Ford is trying to broaden the image of the Falcon range into one as being more sophisticated, the cars themselves bristle with technology at a very 'euro' level, the product is in many ways more 'mature, the marketing more mature and more centred about luring people from other brands in a Ford, then making them good about it.I have nothing but respect for Ford at the moment, the products integrate some of the best automotive technology and bring it to the masses at a good price. The v8s are a massivley complicated motor, and in some ways a move back to a modern pushrod setup woudl be a better thing for the brand in terms of packaging - and overall cost. Lets face it - for the majority of the market they don't care how the vavles get actuated they care about having lazy on-tap torque and that solid burbling exhaust. I really hope FPV do a special Fiesta and Focus (as much as I don't like the look) to give the RenaultSports and the like a bit of a poke. There are some very nice factory approved bit available for the cars and they'd only have to bolt them on. here and uplaod soem imporved software to cope... probably about 15% power/torque boost and a few styling tweaks will get them into a new market....And just what does a Fiesta owner buy when they need a larger/family car?A.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>very very very very well said well done iam glad someone can also see it the way I do well done Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/13785-torque-gets-heated/page/2/#findComment-183194 Share on other sites

Dont forget fpv has only really had a good crack at hsv in the last 2 years, lets wait and see how thay fare in another 2 or 3 years when we have one another 3 or 4 championships and bautherst Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/13785-torque-gets-heated/page/2/#findComment-183196 Share on other sites
FINER6 Member 81 Member For: 20y 10m 4d Location: Mexico Posted 05/11/04 04:12 AM Author Share Posted 05/11/04 04:12 AM (edited) I haven't owned a Ford till now (still waiting actually) and looking from the outside in, I must say the FPV marketing machine around the F6 and MkII is working very well. It certainly made me walk from a WRX into a F6.Fords previous problems seem similar to the problem Subaru had a few years ago with a bug eyed WRX. It was slow and ugly no matter how good the marketing was its sales failed. Two years on with a face lift and a new set of gear ratios the car is back at the competitive front. Sound familiar?Ford followers seem content on bashing their product. Understandably it has been uncompetitive in the wider picture for some time but it certainly is attractive now. I mean an unbiased look at Ford and Holden (the position I was in), I would say Ford is a better total package only just. At the end of the day both manufacturers make a very similar product and for the completely unenthused uneducated consumer they are identical. It is only us techno forum using magazine enthusiasts that crunch the numbers to find that Expensive Daewoo have 5kw more in stock form, but have antiquated technology to back it all up.The reality to me seems today’s Ford have a slightly higher standard when it comes to updates and improvements, rather than add 5kw and change the dash to blue, Ford have bigger ideals obviously based around the euro industry. Now that’s an exciting prospect for us Australians. Unfortunately this costs mega dollars which it seems like Ford Australia is short of. What fixes that? Time! Until they get the runs under their belt with the new current models then it is all a case of wait and see.Till then articles like this one only emphasize how similar the products are, it is just a case of one has been better in the past Edited 05/11/04 04:18 AM by FINER9 Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/13785-torque-gets-heated/page/2/#findComment-183223 Share on other sites
