The only time I ever get to have a go at SS or HSV's is at the drags. Of course a modified T eats them.

Not one has ever wanted to have a go on the street. The T has a reputation out there! :spoton:

Craig you will always be god to me

The November 2002 issue of Wheels has:

VY Expensive Daewoo Late model camira SS

0-100km/hr: 6.2s

0-400m: 14.5s

BA Ford Falcon XR6T

0-100km/hr: 6.0s

0-400m: 14.3s

The September 2004 issue of Motor has:*

VY Expensive Daewoo Late model camira SS

0-100km/hr: 5.82s

0-400m: 13.99s

* Note: This is widely considered by many to be ATYPICAL of standard acceleration launches by this car and that it was a one-off FREAK launch, that no one can come close to replicating in a stock vehicle.  The fact that no one has come close to these times in a stock SS since, suggests the timing equipment may not have been correctly set up and/or, as has often been suggested, Expensive Daewoo handed Motor magazine one if its "special" cars.  :w00t2: Anecdotally, with my stock XR6T, not one SS off the lights or in the 80-120km/hr range has come anywhere close in a friendly spirited straight-line performance contest.  :spoton:

The October 2003 issue of Motor has:

BA Ford Falcon XR6T

0-100km/hr: 5.91s

0-400m: 14.14s

In short, "real world" times suggest the BA XR6T has marginally quicker acceleration than the VY SS V8 in "stock" (unmodified) comparisons.

Safe and happy driving...Dr Z.  :spoton:

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Yes Dr you are correct.

Back on FF last year, the previous editor of Motor posted the details of that accel time. It was a one off time done by Jonathon Hawley (I think it was him) and hasn;t been replicated. Even though I disagree on continuing to use that time for accel figures, I can see the other argument that in fact the car DID achieve those figures as it was a case of a perfect launch, perfect weather conditions/tyre pressures etc etc etc.

I've raced my mates VU SS ute heeps of time now.... how we find on average the T will win up to 140-150.... then the V8 power comes in and takes lead.... but theres never much in it.
