SS vs XR6T

Hey guys, was at school today and a black xr6 rolled in and dropped one of the kids off. I went behind the car as I normally do to check if its a turbo or not but it only had a xr6 badge. I thought it was strang as the car sounded deep on idle. Then the driver said "its a turbo". Then he floored it away. Man I love those things! Anyway this got my friend talking whos a Expensive Daewoo fan (pfft :spit: ) and he said that the VY SS canes the XR6T 0-100...I didn't think this is right but maybe im wrong...could somone please tell me if this is correct?

I know for a fact that the VYSS wont be beating my "T" 0-100. :lol:

My arse ain't on no platter. :spit: I have never been beaten by an SS, neck and neck yes when I was stock, now modified they don't bother.

I have beaten a VY Maloo Ute when I was stock, but like any situation you can have the fastest car around, but it's only as quick as the person driving it. :spit:

Last time I was in Melbourne I handed a guys arse back to him. He was driving a vx ss auto with a japspec muffler. It sounded sh*t and did nothing for the go. Anyway needless to say he was beaten all 3 times he tried. After the first go I thought he would go away, he obviously likes to be slapped by fords.

On 2nd thoughts, I think it was one of those "fully schick" cannonball mufflers available from supercheap autos.

The November 2002 issue of Wheels has:

VY Expensive Daewoo Late model camira SS

0-100km/hr: 6.2s

0-400m: 14.5s

BA Ford Falcon XR6T

0-100km/hr: 6.0s

0-400m: 14.3s

The September 2004 issue of Motor has:*

VY Expensive Daewoo Late model camira SS

0-100km/hr: 5.82s

0-400m: 13.99s

* Note: This is widely considered by many to be ATYPICAL of standard acceleration launches by this car and that it was a one-off FREAK launch, that no one can come close to replicating in a stock vehicle. The fact that no one has come close to these times in a stock SS since, suggests the timing equipment may not have been correctly set up and/or, as has often been suggested, Expensive Daewoo handed Motor magazine one if its "special" cars. :spit: Anecdotally, with my stock XR6T, not one SS off the lights or in the 80-120km/hr range has come anywhere close in a friendly spirited straight-line performance contest. :spit:

The October 2003 issue of Motor has:

BA Ford Falcon XR6T

0-100km/hr: 5.91s

0-400m: 14.14s

In short, "real world" times suggest the BA XR6T has marginally quicker acceleration than the VY SS V8 in "stock" (unmodified) comparisons.

thanks guys, geea you have the most awesomest car on the street today...I wish I was you. By the way I heard a VY SS gun it before and to be honest it sounded like a V6 up untill I guess about 4500rmp...I have heard a XR8 and it sounds good from idle all the way to redline....any idea if the new VZ engines sound as good as XR8's?
