Thanks guys. A special thanks to Steve and Jackson too, they were great company all night. Jackson was my official pit crew and was very handy with a torch at the end whilst we were changing tyres.

There were a few oil downs during the night and it was a good chance to chat with other drivers and spectators.

I'm going to start doing a bit of research on better tyres and will start a thread soon.

I had never been to the drags before this car and if any of you are the same its worth trying out just for the experience. Its a real buzz and afterwards all you wnat to do is go that little bit quicker. There is a large variety of cars running from cars like ours to full on drag cars.

Once again thanks for all the nice words.

Dean and Craig, you guys rock your arses off!! Well done!!

Dean, the colour of your ride translates into at least a few tenths of a second faster time....go the Phantom! Dude, what do you mean by water sprayed? What's involved, and cost?

I'm moving to Melb in January. I'll be joining you guys down the strip then, now that my new auto's done. Just wish APS would reply to my message re wanting more power now....been 2 weeks.

They are awesome times boys.

Julian, the air temp makes a huge difference. If you ran your mid 12 during a warm day and you make your next lot of runs on a cool night you'll come down by at least a couple of 1/10ths. Your car has similar power to Boof and he ran a 12.2, there's no reason why you couldn't do a similar time.

The secret is to let the car rest as long as you can to cool down. If your able to get the shift kit from WA. I used it last night and when I was changing manually I noticed the difference.

Deano and I (mainly Dean) installed the base model shift kit in my car yesterday before going to Calder. It made a big difference. With a very similar 60' I was able to go faster with a slower mph. This would all be due to the quicker shifting I feel. Here are the 2 comparison runs

Without shiftkit

60' 2.039 11.999@121.96mph

With Shiftkit

60' 2.024 11.934@120.43mph

I think the smaller tyres would have cost me mph in the 2nd run but to run faster whilst being slower at the end I think means I made up time on the shifts.

My car also lost 1st when it was turned on but in manual mode you have all gears.

Normally Craigles, lower gears n shorter tigers will help ET & MPH as you get "on top" of the tyre earlier.

Is it possible that with our top gear being an overdrive that it might effect the times in a negative way?

If you change the gears in your car to something like a 3:73 I think you might find you will go slower most of the quick turbo cars run 3:46 gears which is what we have standard I have been told this by many turbo companies now

where most of the v8's run 3.9 to 4.3
