YEAH ALRIGHT, EVERYONE CAN CALM DOWN!!

I understand that LPG is good stuff due to it's high octane level and cheap price, BUT due to it's use in taxis, 4x4 or some old barstool's xD's it has an aura about it of being a non-enthusiast's choice of fuel...

If it costs $2500 to convert, work out the dollars per distance travelled equation to see how many kms you would have to travel before you started saving money.............a bloody lot.

If you are doing it to try and curb running costs, sell the t and go and buy a new td golf or prius. Surely no-one would go into buying a t expecting fuel costs to be cheap or even taking it into account at all????

and also think of the resale difference between a petrol XR6T and a gas XR6T... and if no ones gonna want the latter then think of the money you will lose on a sale.

I wouldn't, LPG availability here is a joke (It's hard enough to get 95 octane petrol, let alone 98....)

It'd be hard to get less range! I just did under 300Ks on one tank.

Does it get annoying when you have to refuel after 90 minutes of driving?

I've ripped apart a couple of taxi LPG Ford I6 engines and found that the cylinders are full of crap(in the squench area) and the heads are completely stuffed from recessed valves. As someone else mentioned on this forum, he went thru 3 heads whereas with a petrol engine you would still be on the first head if serviced properly. Unless engine specifically built for LPG I think that it can end up being false economy as there are alot of cylinder head issues with it.

what about flashlube to prevent it?

also with vapour injection systems they start up on petrol hence the motors get some lubing up.

majority of taxis run the el cheapo venturi mixer systems and wouldn't be getting any lube hence the damage. also I don't think the heads on the taxis would have been hardened and hence able to live happily with gas.

with direct injection, I don't see a problem at all.

in fact, I'm new to the forum and looking at the possibility of lpg'g a turbo territory.

if it's a go'er, I'm looking at trading up for one.
