Games dont need pretty graphics to be playable, what about tetris, still one of most played games ever and it doesnt have pretty pictures.

I didn't say they did. GTA's graphics hinder the gameplay because they are not functional at times. Not functional means that they impare the gameplay because they fail to maintain a consistant frame rate.

Tetris doesn't suffer from hideous slowdown that stops you from rotating and moving the blocks before they reach the bottom. If it did im sure people would complain.

Aside from this GTA3 is no improvement over the previous games. it features the same tedious mission based gameplay where ultimately the mechanics of the gameplay in these missions is rather poor. I site the example of the 'home invasion' mission. Pick up some boxes and place them in a truck without exceeding the noise metre. Retarded at best...

Sure, you might like the wealth of options the game presents, but I liken the experience to eating at a $5 chinese all you can eat buffet. At the end of it you have the sh*ts :kissmy:

That mission you are referring to, is a mission that is an introductory to a new feature in the game, not to mention one of the very first few there are to do. Since the crouch and walk is a new feature, I think the home invasion mission was the perfect way to get players used to using this new and important addition to the game.

OwnaXRT - Appart from some very very minor and occasional frame rate issues, which dont hinder the gameplay at all, the PS2 is more than capable of running this game, it will run better on xbox, but considering the control pad for the xbox is so inferior to that of the PS2 especially in playing a GTA game I decided to go for it on PS2 instead of waiting to get a copy on my xbox.

How long before Gran Turismo4 comes out??? :kissmy:

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

The latest Hyper magazine still says it will be out before christmas minus online play, so the reports of Febuary release might not be correct.

I haven't played GTA:SA myself, but I have watched my brother play it. I must say that it does get jerky at some stages (especially with alot of cars crashing nd you're in the middle of it). But other than tht the gme looks pretty fine. My brother seriously thinks it's "way way better than Vice City or GTA3". From what I've seen I tend to agree.

Here are some things I've seen and I like:

The Gangster talk is "fo real homes". The radio stations are as good as always, with cammio interview appearences by old rap legends like Ice T etc.

You have low riders, with working "lift car up thingidy jigs". You can even change the interiour, add some graphics on the side etc. Oh, and add nitrous. Gotta love the blue flames out of the exhaust. Full shick mate.

In some missions you have to dance the low rider hehe.. was funny to watch. Also have to dance your character aswell..

You can swim now, without drowning, unless you run out of swim energy.

You can go to a takeaway joint and eat.

You can go to the gym and burn off the fat and do some body building. If you eat and don't exercise at the gym, your chracter get's fat. If you exercise, your chracter can get as cut as "arnie schwarcnhamberger".

The play area is fricken huge. There are 3 basic zones, with small towns etc added to the mix. My broher is currently still in the first area and he reons it takes "about 5 minutes to get from one end to the other". Can't imagine how long it'd take to do a whole loop of the whole map. The map is huge.

After a certain amount of missions, you are allowed to break into any house you want.. hehe

Apparently at a later stage, when you get access to n airplane, if you wander out to sea, an F16 fighter jet shoots you down.

Oh the game arcades (pool halls). You can go in here to play a game of pool for money. Pretty good game on it's own. If ou loose just bash up the opponent to get your money back, but I think he won't wnt to play against you again ;). You can even play the arcade games. Not as simple as the turkey punching game in Doom 3. Full on early 90's arcade games with high scores etc. Brillient.

There are litterely dozens of easter eggs (funny kewl stuff added just for kicks). These include bigfoot, ghost cars, ghost of the characters grand mother etc.

With all this stuff, even if it did stutter now and then, the game is still worth trying out.

Can't wait for the PC version though. I think it'll be tooooo addictive. Would be great to play on the PC with one of those multiplayer patches. Could get rather interesting in that respect (play pool against a buddy, shoot him if you loose, etc)

Speaking of easter eggs, later on when you race out in the sticks for pink slips, Tommy Vercetti is there with Catalina, the crazy mexican woman.
