[You only said the graphics were crappy.  I have experienced slow down twice and it was foir like one second.  I mustnt be as picky.

Dazza.

You can't have gameplay without graphics and they affect one another. The frame rate stuttering makes the game annoying.

Perhaps you might not notice the issue, but Im used to higher spec PCs and Xbox so it's annoying for me.

Why they don't just move this series to PC is beyond me. Imagine what it could be like with higher res visuals and online play. Build up a gang of criminals and rule the world, literally.

The graphics are good to me, I don't mind a bit of stutter! Who cares! I mean jeez there is no game that gets close to how fun this is. There is so much stuff to do it is unreal. Best game I have played EVER, not including race car games.

I have PS2, Xbox and PC and I must say it seems fine to me ... I don't seem to be getting any Frame Rate drop issues ... even with alot of characters on screen, etc ... and I thought I would the first with issues since I have a day one PS2 model ...

Anyway a great game ... and I have played the PC version of GTA:Vice City and I didn't think it was as good as the PS2 version ... but hey that's just me :)

Cheers, Jason.

Games dont need pretty graphics to be playable, what about tetris, still one of most played games ever and it doesnt have pretty pictures.

I dont think the graphics make any difference to wether the game is good or not, GTA excels in so many other areas for that to hamper it much.  The mission only make up 50% of the total game, there is alot more to it than the story.

Well the graphics actually affect the gameplay in that the framerate stutters so much that it often becomes difficult to navigate the streets and traffic at high speed when chasing others. It all becomes very annoying. A stable 30 frames per second screen update would have made the game a lot more playable.

Im with you, I like good graphics and think its a shame to bring this out exclusive to the CRAPPY Ps2. Its a sh*tty console and I can't play games on it cause im used to PC and Xbox. The game is probably great but I want it on Xbox or PC.

I didn't say they did. GTA's graphics hinder the gameplay because they are not functional at times. Not functional means that they impare the gameplay because they fail to maintain a consistant frame rate.

Tetris doesn't suffer from hideous slowdown that stops you from rotating and moving the blocks before they reach the bottom. If it did im sure people would complain.

Aside from this GTA3 is no improvement over the previous games. it features the same tedious mission based gameplay where ultimately the mechanics of the gameplay in these missions is rather poor. I site the example of the 'home invasion' mission. Pick up some boxes and place them in a truck without exceeding the noise metre. Retarded at best...

Sure, you might like the wealth of options the game presents, but I liken the experience to eating at a $5 chinese all you can eat buffet. At the end of it you have the sh*ts
