I went to my first Indy weekend this year and I am convinced it sure as hell wont be my last!I thought I would just relay my impressions of the weekend...

First Impression...Syndey People are big pikey sissy girls blouses...

Second Impression...V8 supercars are second in aural quality only to an F-111 at 300 feet.

Anyways....

I only made up my mind to go to Indy on Friday arvo...So when I travelled up and got to the actual track, it was about 1 and the V8's had just finished qualifying. It is at this point I would like to point out and thank Wayne's (NA Thunder) valiant rescue of my lostness from 'Near the *crackle crackle* at the *crackle*'.

Then we trekked around to the back straight and saw Xena. As well as the Bray's Doorslammer and Ute...Awesome. After that I met Rob, Trumpy and XR6ikeness.

Stayed there for the afternoon, saw a dog king hit a bloke about 3 foot from us and of course saw AMBROSE WIN...Woot

This was about the point where my plans came to an end...I was AT Indy, but didn't know what the f*ck I was going to do once there.... :pinch: The big girl's piking blouses soon left, leaving Wayne and I on our lonesome...

We then met a friend of mine who I dropped off in Goldy and luck smiled on us. We got in contact with MacktheKnife and end up meeting with him for a few drinks at the ANA. Thank you VERY much Trev, was great to catch up again :spoton:

Then with nothing else to do so we went and saw 'Resident Evil 2'...

Thus Endeth Saturday.

On Sunday I again arrived late to the track and caught on the last 40 mins of the V8's, most of which was trekking in 47 degree/176% Humidty and being pushed and shoved and jostled while trying to take photos! To top THAT all off, Grug Marphuy won anyway...Boooooo

The Indy Cars came out to play later on, but they weren't that impressive, aside from sheer speed and noise. For mine the V8's and Porsches sounded far better. In fact those Porsche GT3s were very impressive and they howled beautifully up high!

Then the Indy cars went around the track a bit and I got bored and drove home again.

Other points of note.

* The Audi RS6 was an AWESOME sounding car and it could REALLY move

*The Red Cobra Coupe was an AWESOME sounding car, but they never gunned it

*NSW People are big fat piker girls, doo da. Doo da.

So all in all. I will do it next year but actually organise it. A big thanks to Wayne and Trevor for catching up and making the weekend enjoyable :pinch:

Peace,

Lumpy..

PS....PIKERS

Yeah, pikers!!! :pinch:

Well the Gold Coast INDY 300 `04 was quite an experience.

We should be proud as the circuit does have a reputation with INDY drivers. They do favour the streets of the Gold Coast for their playing ground.

I went 3 of the 4 days, was there for most of Day 2 and Day 3. Day 4 I just wanted to see the 2nd race of the V8's but was spewin I didn't stay a little longer, the F1-11's did their dump and burn again but I did manage to see the whole thing from Southport before the rush home to Brisbane. Awesome sight as usual. I love em.

Had an absolute ball there. :pinch:

The thing that amazed me was the organization of such a huge scale event in almost next to no time. Very impressive. It's a strange feeling to walk along the streets but see the streets you know quite well, transformed into a race circuit. It was hard to try and imagine what it would look like but experiencing it for the 1st time...<WOOT>!!!!! I was expecting absolute chaos being the Gold Coast. A top knotch effort to the people that make this event possible. I'm even considering being a volunteer for next years event.

If you haven't been before, I'd highly recommend it. Couldn't stay in one spot, so much to see. Had to experience the race on every corner. Very VERY cool :spoton:

The 1st corner, southern end of the track near the ANA Motel/Resort, great action spot. I was here for the 4th day, for the 1st time @ INDY, I didn't budge...lol.

And here they come....

And.....Another of (I know, can't help it), Ambrose, can't get closer then this.

And.....Whoops, another Falcon in need of a bit of panel work.

And.....Another closeup, this time of Ingall. Go Stone Brothers Racing!!!

Now I didn't really get any shots up the 1st half of the back straight as, hmmm........lol, I need a faster digital camera, sick of taking shots of 'nothing'. However, around half way up the back straight, this is where Matt and Rob and their wives stayed most of the day, nice spot overlooking the beach...etc.

Sneeky shot through one of the race track volunteer's peep holes. Great part of the track, gotta love the 'S' bends.

Another shot of the INDY cars. Northern end of the track where there are some interesting turns to witness. Seeing these cars screem through these corners is incredible.

Sorry for not catching up guys the weekend was just a blur for me after way to many JD,s in the sun.. I ended up staying at The Grand Hotel appartments and cause I know the water taxi fellas (thanks to Fabio and Zain) all I had to do was walk across the road from my appartment, hop in the boat and step off inside the track. There is no better way of getting into Indy. From there I stayed at a mates unit which gave us front row seats to the Bartercard Chicane, where a few accidents were great to watch. Im sure Wayne had a few drinks too by the way he sounded on the phone... How about we get a fordxr6turbo.com corporate stand or unit next year....

Hahaha, Onya Jeff. :pinch: I knew I should have called you earlier, damn, sounds good :spoton:

Yep, hmm, corporate box, sounds good. There's no reason why we couldn't do something if we book and save now.

Another one.....On the home straight.post-126-1098714392_thumb.jpg
