After Phase II was fitted ,vixen developed a miss at idle ..Morpowa(APS agent) thinking a crook spark plug is the culprit.

Off to Ford to find out which one.Warranty

Hooked up to the WSD to test the spark duration .

No 5 spark plug is varing between 1.2 to 2 millisecs while the rest are stable between 1.3 to 1.5..

Whip out number 5 and replace....

Vixen has from factory the old type spark plug fitted

Denso K20SR11

The updated spark plugs are

Denso AGSP22Z11

Ford warranty will only replace the offending spark plugs upto the maximum of 2.. :spit:

One spark plug replaced all spark durations are happy again at idle...BUT

Leaving Ford heading back to work Vixen has no power :spit: ..

Aint got time to go back I ordered 6 new sparkers (only $8.95 each :spoton: )

Taking off the ducting over the top of the rocker cover reveils that they didnt refit the ducting back properly on the throttle body allowing precious boost to vent to atmosphere

Whip out the old spark plugs reveils that plug gaps are varing from 0.8 mm to 1.05 mm...Big variation

Regap newie to 0.7 mm as asked by Morpowa and fire her up....

All is good again..smooth idle ,horsies are happening again...Back on the dyno to dial some numbers in..

Interesting side notes,

1)wsd computer costs a dealer $30,000

2)A ford dealer is playing with mod software on the WSD..It allows the dealer to change parameters of the engines computer which inturn allows more horsepower.

I'll try to find out more about this...

Keep up the good work. :spoton:

I've known about the software for sometime now. Trying to get then to let you play with it is another thing.

After the Edit program comes out maybe they be a little more accomodating

macka

not to burst any bubbles here but he probibly was(an aprentice)!

just a note the local Expensive Daewoo dealer has 21 service staff 4 advisors, 4 mechanics and the rest made up of t/a's apprentices and detailers.

what odds do you have getting the right guy on the job?

just a thought!!! :spoton::blink:

Would not let a Ford apprentice do my groceries, if the :pinch: experts are anyting to go by :spoton:

Bloody hopeless mechanics leaving the ducting loose, a first year apprenti could do better...

Apparently this has all come about because of the aftermarket chips and soon to be released edit.
