if what he wants is a pretty stock car that already has the wham and bam about it, then the GT-P or the R8 get my vote too.

owning a V8 is just an experience one has to have in life, the noise, the feel... you just cant get that in anything else!

id preferably get the GT-P ...BUT...... Expensive Daewoo do have the extra power in this battle. its upto you which one u choose but please make it a V8 :)

Youve never had a V8,so I dont see a problem, why would you want another hairdryer???

Just do yourself a favour, and buy a fcuking V8,any brand,as long as its got 8 pots

And get it delivered with tractors on it ,so you can enjoy from day one :w00t2:

I just love the XY,as old and bumpy as she might be,the sound, the grunt  the idle

You have to own a V8 befor all that stupid walking kills you.

... consider the GTp Ken. I offer you a drive to dispel all this crap to show you what a boss with some K's on it can do.

There is a reason I'm defending the HSV so rigoursly, it's so Kent will buy one and bugger off to LS1 forum and leave us alone! :w00t2:

Your a class act Ken. Consider a BMW. When you add how much a GTP will cost a SH BMW will be a very attractive option.

My M5 has 25K service intervals. Just had a 65K Services. $385. Cant really complain about that.

Oh and BTW it doesnt rattle doent break down, doesnt leak, doesnt have brake shudder.......etc

I loved my T but I could cope with poor service, poor Ford attitude and unreliablity. Simple. I expect a lot for my money and you will be treated accordingly at BMW.

Having now owned 2 of them the ownership experience is real. something a Ford owner dreams of but cant get due to Fords inability to deliver basic good service. Its not that hard and when their cars venture into the 70k region they will learn that service is important to people with that kind of money.

The best thing the MD of Ford could do is go buy a MAZDA and see how service can be delivered at a similar price point.

Sorry for rave but if you crave good service and a classy car then move on.....

I really wish I could say better things. After having spoken to Ford PR on behalf of the Forun and got nowhere then I gave up!

They simply dont give a toss. And that's tough when your a FORD supporter!

The Typhoon would have to be the best bang for your bucks out of the cars mentioned.

I guess in a year or so we'll know what the new 6lt HSV motor is all about and how reliable it is, so presuming it is OK then it would be next on the list.

A GT or GT-P would be nice, especially in the colour scheme you mentioned but at it's present power level represents poor value compared to the Darkside. Only for died in the wool die hard Ford fans.  :spoton:

Don't know much about BMWs so can't offer any advice.

So to summarise, if it's a V8 you must have, and if Ford run true to form and let Expensive Daewoo walk all over them in the performance stakes then the HSV will be the one to get.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Disagree. The GT/P is sensational, most of these so called experts and their opinions dont even own one, so the HSV is a few tenths quicker than the Ford down the almighty 400. There is far more to these cars than the golden 400 metre run that gives some people and motoring writers so many orgasms, if you want a drag queen mod an xr6T, if you want a real car, with some real character and that stonking V8 spine tingling roar, consider the GTp Ken. I offer you a drive to dispel all this crap to show you what a boss with some K's on it can do. If your worried about traffic lights spend $5k on Hypnodoc type bolt ons and that will take care of even the new LS2 piston slapper

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

sh*t your one eyed Rob

The latest dribble fest from Motor conclude their article on the HSV LS2 by claiming that with some practice they reckon they can break into the 4's for the 0-100km. That is farken fast in anybodys language and more than a few tenths over the GT/P. The new LS2 sounds like a great tourqey engine. there is no doubt FPV have their backs against the wall now, the F6 is their saving grace IMO. If l was in the market for a V8 it would be hard to look past the R8.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Expensive Daewoo V8's have a reputation for being rattly, piston slapping, oil using engines. LS2 may or may or may not be the same. Time will tell

As long as I own a GT and have the kind of great performance and service and lack of issues of any signifigance, I will post same to people who are considering this type of vehicle, if that's being one eyed so be it. Knowhere did I suggest Ken not test out LS2. What facts do you have to back your claim that FPV have their backs against the wall? I love all Aussie performance vehicles including HSV ones but I've had such a great run with the Ford ones why shouldn't I post that? It now also appears that the Fords maybe a safer vehicle according an ambo who would know better than just about any of us, another reason to consider other things apart from how fast it can get to 100clicks from zero.

325i    :spoton:  My 17 year old girlfriend has one!  :finger:  (hope she doesn't read this)

I knew that this thread would contain something interesting & I knew it wouldn't come from Kenneth's lips, so Gilto tell us more about this 17 yo Girlfriend.

Honestly Kenty, if you want sound & no performance, buy a Landy Discovery, one very angry sounding motor & Zero performance + it's owners are old by definition, so it's perfect on all fronts. :spoton:
