Is driveline shunt really that bigger deal? I drive an auto, but from my experience it is not a major problem And the brakes are more than acceptable IMO, stops as well as any other car on the market at a similar price. Quite frankly, you sound like your trying to fault a very good car. I mean, the BA is a brilliant car and these issues are simply unavoidable. We're talking a 350hp engine in a 1800kg car, the gearbox has to be extremely strong and if that means it doesn't feel like a four cylinder box, so be it, at least it'll go the distance.

tquarrell, I find it hard for you to pass judgement if you have not experienced these issues. You are welcome to come and drive my T and experience a car that at some stages is hideous to drive because of the shunt, and the constant 'boucing' back and forth on the driveline because it has far too much freeplay. This has been acknowledged by my dealer and Ford themselves.

If you think the brakes are more than acceptable, great. But that does not explain why so many owners have either opted for the premium package or spent $1-$2k ontop of their purchase to get some assurance of safety built into he car. Try 3 or 4 'Hard' applications or a long time braking hard, and lets see where you end up then?

I have had many a car in this bracket, and the Falcon would rate in the back end of braking ability, very, very average.

We are not trying to fault the car, in fact we are raising common faults that are appearing with them, and are angry at Ford for either not addressing them or taking a considerable amount of time and excuses to realise that there is a problem.

These issues are unavoidable? Give me a break! It has been noted by dealerships, and other aftermarket businesses in the industry that Ford have built this car to a price nothing else. With that has come a great car, poor components, and a poor build quality. These issues could have been avoided, buy putting better components in from day 1. Once again there are memebers that have shed out extra $$ to upgrade these components. Is'nt it funny how there are a few that immediately upgraded their T5 to a T56 because the T5 is known to be weak, yet it takes ford until the series 2 to acknowledge it.

Hmm go the distance hey? Hope you are talking about the T56, as there is a backlog on the T5 box as many have failed and are waiting for replacement under warranty, yes I would be one of those. Oh yes likewise with the Diff, but they are not a major problem either are they? 1100 on backorder from Dana, I personally am waiting for my 4th diff and I am at 25,000kays (1st diff at 5000) but then again I am just faulting the car.

Many of us like myself that have these problems, just want them fixed, it is not acceptable for a $50k car.

However with that said I know we all still enjoy the T because it is a great design and an enjoyable car to drive, hence we are passionate and that's why we are here. I love my T and would not trade it for the world, I just want it to be how it was designed to operate.

Mate, l dont care who 'wins', l will buy the car l prefer not what dribble the media feeds me.

As T6man noted, the media's love of the BA appears to be over and finally these cars are getting some bad press on the issues they refuse to address. Good to see. l wished Ford would get their head out of their beancounter arse so l could buy another. l am not stupid enough to do that given the cars current lack of quality however.

RE: Driveline shunt, I havent driven any manual BA's to experiance it, but a friend of mine had a VL turbo which shunted BAD!! after new diff and problem fixed the car felt completley different. As for it being un avoidible, how the hell does Expensive Daewoo and HSV do it? :) There V8 models make just as much if not more power then the BA's on some specs.
