If you feel so passionate about it, raise it with your local MP. Personally, if you get done for hooning, wear the consequences.

Perhaps one reason why VIC is taking this approach is to be heavy handed, because bahaviour like this is out of control. Penalise hard, and perhaps you have a chance of stopping it. Whilst it may not be the best solution, when you have few police to enforce the law as it stands, then perhaps you have to implement drastic measures.

If you Hoon, you have every right to be penalised as the law defines...if you don't want to take the chance, then don't hoon.

And please don't give the crap about taking high performance car without parents's consent...as this becomes a parental responsibility.

I guess the other thing to consider re license suspension vs. vehicle confiscation is that we already have demerit systems in place which would see a road users license revoked for consistent failure to follow the rules….and apparently it isn’t working. The other issue is that there is nothing to stop said individuals from driving without a license if they retain their vehicle……

Yes the government sets the agenda, that's not the issue, the issue is that these laws are left entirely to the judjment (or lack there of) of the officer involved.

I do support the new laws, certainly the ones over here….and I don’t believe that their focus is revenue raising so, by your definition I’m apparently a moron? So to test that enlightened theory lets compare my situation against the two fine road users who recently lost their vehicles under the anti hoon laws here…..I have my car and can drive it where ever I please, when ever I please….they have no cars and must beg rides of friends and relatives…..I have my drivers license….they will shortly have their licenses suspended and therefore even if they get their cars back will not be legally entitled to drive them…….now why this disparity? Is it because they were unfairly persecuted due to their age, or appearance, or vehicles? I suspect the answer is no, it prolly had more to do with the fact that they were dumb enough to put on an excellent display of burnouts while over the legal limit and in the presence of the police……where as I have sufficient cognitive skills to understand the road rules and the potential consequences for breaking them……so, if you were to look up moron in the dictionary I doubt very much, in relation to this issue at least, that it’s my handsome visage you’d see staring back at you. It’s more likely to be the mournful faces of all those dumb fcuks willing to take the risk of loss of license and now vehicle too by doing something on the roads already they know they shouldn’t be…..(perhaps with a little text bubble coming out of their mouths with “it’s sooo unfair….it’s all about revenue raising”)

Um, no on second thoughts don’t presume to know what I would or wouldn’t do in any given scenario but because based on your assessment so far you’re not likely to be right. Though your point about suspension of license is exactly the one I was making….many people do appear to be willing to drive without one, but it'd be a whole hell of a lot harder if you don’t have anything to drive…… -> ->
