Voy, dont think that would be possible, at least from the place scotty got it done at. He mentioned the width of the jig cant be altered.

You got the doe,any thing is possible

I had to put a bracing kit in the XY bonnet when I put the shaker on it,you leave the outer skin alone and cut away the subframes :pinch: fun job.

If you got the right bloke on the job,you could cut the finns in the bonnet skin,and leave the sub frames there instead of welding in a pre made dodad.

Cut a slit in the outer skin,then bend it up with some sort of jig,a good panel guy should be able to do it I would think.

what was the total cost involved.

any one in melb you reckon could do as good a job

THere is a guy in Melbourne, I'll see what I can find, but you might try the jag club or the hot rod fraternity, as they are the most likely to seek him out down there.

Cost = $255 for bonnet

$110 for louveres

$400 for painting

Result = $priceless

Scotty

Thanks mate appreciate any info you can give me. Have been trying to decide on vents since I got the car as I reckon ford stuffed up big time. thought of the louvre effect but unless I see a pic of something, I cant think how it would look.Same problem when my wife goes to target and says do u like this top? (my response, Have to try it on dont I). I originalthought of four rows but like what u did better as well as the subframe being in the way.

Good on ya for having the balls to try it.

why didnt you use the orig bonnet. you can always buy one later cant you?

regards

Can you let me know exactly how it was done, did a machine just cut the bonnett, or did you cut a hole in it and blend some more metal into it? Looks tops but I gotta know.

Dazza,

the bonnet is held in a jig on the floor of the workshop upside down, an A frame (somewhat resembling the A drawbar on a trailer) is set on a hinge at the side of the jig. In one motion it falls on its hinged axis & hits the bonnet, cutting the metal on the place required & pressing it into the shape as per finished pics. Each one is done seperately & trust me the spacings are perfect.

This guy has done zillions over the years & has only ever fukd one up which he replaced & redid perfecto style.

Scotty

p.s. Stang, I wanted to keep my bonnet to put back on when I trade it in for the next one. If it don't fit new car I'll give it to one of you lovely chappies.

p.s. of the p.s. Viktory, there is no smell that I can smell anyhows, I have chosen to have a small part of the bonnet bracing removed to enable me to get as many louvers as possible. This will make the bonnet defective, but I know where a legal one is. LOL For those concerned this isn't necessary & you'd end up with 4 sets of roughly 5 louvers each.
