Some great news macka, you must have been prouder than a honeymooners dick with all the people there giving you the thumbs up. When you think about it, most of the dealership owners would be revheads anyway and giving some of the new school some olds chool touches would ahve brought back some memories for them, hope things go well with the kits.

Hey Neil,

They also said to come back with all the necessary legal documents to prove ADR79/00 compliance and they would introduce me to people at FPV.

What's this ADR about ?

Do you need to meet these requirements before installing on our T's ?

By the way, what a fantastic response from Ford :censored:

Each morning when I open up the garage and see my T, I keep imagining the shaker on it.

So George is forum member # 1 and I'm forum member # 2, come on, bring it on.

Depending on the price, this is one mod that I'm "allowed' to get because of the fuel efficiency - suppose it all depends on how far you squeeze the pedal :gooff:

So I'll probably need to be careful of over boosting, time will tell.

Daniel.

The form they were talking about is a form stateing it meets Australian Design Rules (ADR) for engine emissions, car makers have to coincide with these laws when selling cars, so if they wanted to sell mackas shaker as an option, they will need to make sure it complies to the emission standard to be able to do so.

You dont have to abide by this when modding your car, but if it doesnt pass the emission tests you could get defected because it would be illegal. However I have never heard of anyone being pulled over and having an emissions test done. But it does happen.

Will be a different story when you go back to them with a warranty claim for the engine though.

Had an interesting conversation with the service manager today, about what they thought of mods that we are doing.

His response was that you can modify what you want, paint pink spots on your car if that's what you want. If the mod is'nt respsonsible or the cause of the problem as far as he was concerned they would honour the warranty. If they find that your mod has caused the fault you pay to have it fixed.

Seems pretty reasonable to me. :kissmy:

Lets face it Ford knows whats going on. At the end of the day we are helping them with R&D of their own product. Where do you think FPV got the idea for the dual air intake from. It certainly was'nt an engineer, the concept was to simple for them to come up with. :w00t2:

Venom xr6,

Are you suggesting that my mod will cause an engine failure, or just a broad statement about mods in general.
