Hi Miyagi, I have another option for you. It eliminates most of the piping and avoids the heat of the Nizpro and APS units. It involves a large pod filter in the drivers front guard. It would have similar benefits to Macka's, though without the ram effect and the look.

If cost isn't a consideration (mainly cause we don't know what it is) and you're comfortable with the look, Macka's shaker is probably the best CAI available for the "T". The one I have in the pics is stealth and would probably be 2nd. I'm not sure on the exact cost but if it appeals give Amberleys a ring.

Ms700,

Can you please tell me what the cost is for the XR8 Pod with the cold air adapter whould be?

Thinking to get one pretty soon. What do you mean when it sounds tops? I take it you hear the sucking sound, is it loud?

Regards,

Rob...

Hi Rob,

About $300 for the lot, including the "cold air adapter".

If you wanted to run a BMC filter as well, you'd need to chuck about another $140 on top of that price as well.

You can definately hear the turbo drawing the air in with any modified air intake, and also the wastegate "chatter" is a lot more audible as well. I rate the sound highly! :w00t2:

Cheers! :ermm:

Thanks for the reply MS700.

I just love that wastegate chutter noise! Ive seen a blue XR6T ute near Sandown in vic during the races and it mad the loudest wastegate noise which VL's are famous for and it :ermm: over that. It sounded great!

So I take it that price is from the Ford dealer?

Thanks again MS700,

Rob...

technicaly mackas should make good noises, the flutter that vls make is due to the larger volume between comp wheel and throttle butterfly this noise is not good its is air rushing back past the comp wheel forcing it bacwards sometimes snaping the shaft destroying the turbo! fit a blow off valve and save your turbo plumb back are quiet! if stealth is a requirement geea suggestions are ok I have done heaps similar to that remembering battery relocation. still think shackers look cool!

They have a factory BOV, which is a Bosch, one of the better ones you can get at qtr of the price of any aftermarket ones.

Yeah Dynowog thanks for the Tip  Had no idea that it could lead to damage. Ive just fitted an after market Blowoff valve (non plumback) and sound nice  certainly turns heads.

I am also in the market for CAI.

I have decided I would probably want to go with the Shaker, but having said this I still would like pricing on XR8 snorkel CAI and where I can get it done.

Im the type that's no good with cutting and fitting things so it would be good if perhaps someone can direct me where to buy the stuff or someone who is willing to help me out fitting the stuff in.... of course I'll pay for your labour... (provided its not ridiculous :P)...

Im the type that want's everything done neat and professionally, which works and looks great.

I'm not after an APS or Nizpro CAI, If I have to go down that path when and if I decide to take on their stage kits that's when I'll change it if I have to.

Also, does anyone know where I can get an aftermarket BOV for my T? Would be good to know who to speak to and who can install it.

Cheers,

George

George I have the Geea mod which is basically identical to the new typhoon CAI.

All we have done is get the XR8 underheadlight pipe and attach it to the airbox.

Why would you go to the cost of changing your whole airbox when you get the same result with the same under the headlight part but no XR8 airbox. That's the only difference.

Would be happy to do the mod for you, only thing is I am in Melb, it would only cost you a couple of beers.

Neil's Shaker is truely awsome. Looks the goods, and very professional.

For those who haven't seen it in the flesh, you don't know what your missing

out on.

You should hear when the car is switched off, sounds like a jet plane engine slowing down ! :k24t: obviously the slowing down of the turbine.

By the way, one tank of petrol to do 762 klm !!! My T is standard and I went through a tank and nearly a quarter for 790 klm.

I want one, given the right pricing  otherwise I'll

Hi Geea,

With your filter down under the guard what are the chances of the hydraulic lock due to water ingress ?

Cheers
