V8 supercar racing is what it is today because of the backing & money that's been invested over the years by Ford/Holden. The formular is pretty right now, and I don't think I'd like to go back to the days of the Imports  vs Local

I also think channel 10 has alot to do with its popularity thanks to there massive coverage of motor raceing, I remember when the v8's/group A raceing was on channel 7, it was pretty sad.

Ten's coverage is p!sspoor. The commentators, apart from Cromley, are p!sspoor. Even Cromley has some "fast asleep" moments. There is no room in V8supercars for another competitor unless major rule changes take place - then it will no longer be V8supercars but some other category.

I'd like to see better coverage of the GTP sedans class with both Ford and Expensive Daewoo putting some serious money into a team ... V8supercars are losing relevance to todays market anyway.

Here here. V8 Supercars have crap all to do with the cars we buy, and is more about brand support & driver support than the car itself.

My formative years were watching the Group C class at Surfers Raceway. So these days I find way more enjoyment in the GTP series. That's where the serious showroom racing is. Putting ya GTS against a GT-P against a Evo VIII.

The V8Supercars might as well all be the same car/chassis/engine/ etc etc, cause there's bugger all diff between the 2.

In that respect, why not bring on another company. Maybe those here against it are scared they'll start getting taunted at work by the Magna/Sportivo/Camry owners..

Mercedes Benz and BMW make rear wheel drive v8's and the pace car is an Audi v8, they,re not made here but I,d rather see them up against the locals than homemade rice!

Mate I would love to see that happen. FORD Vs. MERC. Ambrose will have some REAL compertition. And this would be brillent if it happens at bathurst. We might see the 3 point star on top of the podium. But then reality hits and this wont happen, the posibility of toyota or mitsubishi, well Toyota has the money and ability to do it as for mitsubishi it wont happen due to their financial problems. As I know this wont happen for a long time.

I seriously doubt Toyota or Mitsubishi would want to develop a 5.0L Pushrod engine just for V8 supercars, Then a good size RWD car, That's a lot of time and effort they might not want to put in,

And has been said already, When a car wins bathurst you can buy a GTS and GT, But Toyota have FWD and I can't think of a RWD V8 Mitsubishi In this country ?

And also I think Toyota would get some F1 technology to help them out.

Toyota just finished their pushrod V8 that they use in the NASCAR truck series. I'm sure it wouldnt take much for them to develop it into V8 Supercar specs. Large RWD car? Lexus GS series. Lexus are really making a push for global Lexus sales. I'm sure V8 Supercars could be a half decent stepping stone.

Mitsubishi, they are still up :pooh: creek without a paddle
