Next question is how much Horsepower do you need ?

Once you get enough to spin the rear wheels at will what then ? Bigger rubber so the thing becomes a boat in the wet ?

ok people look at it this way

the new hsv ls2 will eat all the new fords no matter what way you look at it cause it was faster than them before with the ls1

you can go on about the f6 all you want but its going ever going to be a v8 nor beat a ls2

ford just needs to pull there finger out and start putting some power into there engines take some weight out of the cars then it will be interesting

and even if they do bring a gtho out there is going to be a 373kwatt gts out later this year and I dont think the gtho will beat that

xarh6turbo,

mate, not everyone makes a car-buying decision according to kW alone - you know this.

* Holden's problem is that people are willing to buy a very slightly slower XR6T because its a better car - read the reviews in Motor and Wheels. SS and SV8 are ok cars overall, but theyre just not quite as good.

* Ford's engine is all-Australian :sleepystuff: - Holden's is a Yankee import . And we all know that the Yanks make the worst cars in the world other than the Russians. I had a chev camaro for over 4 yrs, it looked great, had a sound drivetrain...but I could write a book on its flaws.

* High-tech. The XR6T has technology all over Holden's offerings by far. This is a big selling point in some people's eyes. V8s are ok, but some people think theyre dinosaurs. Expensive Daewoo has caught up in this dept though.

If you guys are so worried about Horsepower, why not just put V8Supercar engine in, 600BHP, sure it would out strip everything else on the road...

I think by just losing wieght alone off the V8 powered cars would increase performance quite a bit.

I have to disagree Adam. My car standard never had a problem with standard HSV's.

I also doubt that there will be any Holdens I'm going to meet on the street that will beat me either. If you have a look at the LS1 site's drag times anything in the 11's aint on standard street rubber. I don't doubt that a twin turbo LS2 on slicks would flog me, it would beat me easy. Put that same car on street tyres and by the time he gets traction I'm that far away I'll need to send him a postcard. :spoton:

The Expensive Daewoo guys remove interiors and the like chasing that extra 1/100th, whats the point. At a set of lights you can't ask the guy your lining up against to wait whilst slicks are put on and you've removed half the interior.

Anytime APS or anyone else wants to run me at Calder with their twin turbos on street tyres I'll be there with bells on.

Geea. :o

Remember though, this is "base" for the LS2... "base" LS1 in corvette made 260 odd kw... So it isn't doing too bad on power front but look at the torque it makes over LS1 and LS6. Corvette has displacment on demand which makes the fuel economy pretty awesome for it, does anyone know if HSV will be running the DOD?

Geea.

craig your car is fast for what it is but you wouldnt beat a twin turbo ls1 most of them run slicks cause they have too much power to get traction

I ran slicks because I couldnt get traction I will never run my xr6t on street rubber because I cant get traction in this car either

I ran a 12 flat at 122mph on street tyres with only 280 at the wheels in my gto your time is good but not that good considering the power you have

I know of many ls1 with only 240rwkw to 250rwkw that run high to mid 11's on streer rubber

I have had both cars I think I know what im talking about more than most people on here just some people are way to one sided

in standard form the ls2 is and will kill the fords there is no if buts or maybes

the xr6t is a great car for the price range but there are many better cars out there

I could give you a list of things my gto did better than an xr6t and vice versa

I think some people need to give respect to a car for what it is

none of this

Expensive Daewoo is :gun2:

ford is :pooh:

cause next to a bmw or audi or so they are both :pooh:
