Sorry if the Ls2 has been covered before.

Just jumped onto hsv site and browsed through the new hsv range.

LS2 Gen IV

297Kw (305 DIN)

530Nm Torque (90% which is available at idle) So that's more than max in xr6T

Claimed 0-100 in 5.2sec for Man and 5.1 for Auto.

I dont know about you guys but I think we have some competition on our hands!

Aidan

With that power figure you can expect the vehicles to be pricey for marketing reasons so dont expect many of them. It does sound pretty tough though, well it is 6.0L! They wont be priced in the 40s, that's for sure. But it doesnt develop its peak power till 4400rpm which is 544Nm...but the Typhoon kicks its ass getting its 550Nm from 2000-4250rpm, yeah!

At least our engines are 100% Aussie from go to whoa...unlike those Yankee/Expensive Daewoo ones.

They are also bringing out an LS7 for the Z06 Corvette - 373kW! 7.0L!

I saw it on carpoint.com.au yesterday.

I was watching Current Affair last night and they had a segment on the new ford and HSV range. Mark Skaife was driving the LS2 297kw version and he was accellerating through the gears it was fast and grunty. It will be interesting to see the price compared to the F6 and the old HSV range.

Robbie.

that's funny. Should we worry!! We should have been worried a year ago. Expensive Daewoo V8's are kicking everything Ford has to offer now. Thank goodness for the T, I know I don;t have to worry with APS Phase III.

Sorry if I seem harsh in relation to ford but our V8 range doesn't seem to live up to the Dark sides range.

so true

but you cant look at the new hsv and go my t with a phase3 would beat it just think 10k on an ls2 and you get a aps twin tubo kit and there isnt any t's around that could touch that

which is why im looking at selling my car

I agree,

HSV are always one step ahead of ford. I dont understand why ford/FPV cannot hike up the power of xr/GT especially with Series II.

Expensive Daewoo seem to increase power with new series

Good on ya ford :birthdaywish:

Well the Typhoon RRP is $58,950

The Tornado (ute) RRP is $51,950

These prices kick ass vs the Expensive Daewoo prices listed higher up in the thread.

10k for a twin turbo kit? I would have thought it would have cost a lot more to twin turbo an 8 properly inlcuding, computer, fuel, turbos, manifolds, intercooler, piping, labour etc and I wonder what the stock engine would hold up like under this power. the ls1's seem to need pistons, rods, headgasket with not a whole lot of power.

not true

they are fine I have had 2 of them and had no problems with any of them things

also you cant compair a f6 typhoon with a clubsport a 6 compaired to an 8

I know I miss a v8 even with the power my t has

a t with never have the on tap power that a v8 will have because they have to build boost

but the xr6 turbo engine is still the most impressive engine that australia has ever made
