I dont see what is wrong with it as a comment, Jeff. Much anticipation surrounded the typhoons stronger engine due to the inclusion of what was thought of as billet conrods. Now with confirmation from a ford worker, and no sign of billet anywhere on their site, the car is not looking the go for anyone series about modifying a turbo 4lt ford. Who knows what the potential of the Lpg conrods are.

But please, if you think it is a joke, please tell us why

Lighten up Steve. :msm:

Whether or not the rods are billet. The F6 is a new contender and is the answer to a lot of people on this forum who didnt want a GT or GTP because of the V8. I have driven my mates GTP and I tell you even though I have spent thousands on suspension and brakes the GTP out handles and brakes 100 times better than my ute. I am contemplating on getting one myself. Do yourself a favour and take one for a test drive. :spoton:

Hi Joe,

I have no intention of purchasing a typhoon. For me it would be a total waste of money as my car is less than a year old and it its current form it is way faster. I was only considering purchasing the short motor of the Typhoon and using it to upgrade my motor. This can now be considered a waste of money because the Typhoon doesn't appear to have billet rods and also the fact that there are other issues with the T engine that the typhoon hasn't solved either.

Hey Steve,

You have a point there. Your car being only 1 year old, it is not feasable to sell it/trade it in as you would lose a lot of money for no reason. Especially when you add up what you have spent.

As for the Typhoon block/ bottom end, I would say rebuilding your one with Forged Pistons and Billet Rods would be better anyway. :msm:

At least you are going to have peace of mind when you drive. I am actually thinking of buying a short block and do the same and keep the original at home until I sell or trade in the ute.

I don't want to start a war here .....but if you have a Typhoon modded up and you put a T auto modded together ......the T will blow it away anyway in a straight line

Very interesting news. I am yet to hear back from ford, and may not if indeed they are not billet.

Wonder what rwkw capacity these lpg rods have. May not be any more than the standards. Typhoon doesn't look too hot after all

They may not be billet but the would be a lot stronger than the standard rods as they are a fair bit thicker and seem a lot beefier. If you want a strong bottom end aftermarket billets and forged pistons would be the way to go anyway. The standard rods seem to be able to handle up to stage 3 so these LPG rods could go further than that.

Has anyone heard of someone snapping a rod.

Yes, but from shots on the FPV site they don't look anywhere as near as beefy as the billet rods that people like Nizpro fit.

Yes, the standard rods seem to be able to handle phase III power if the car is tuned well. The problem is that some motors have weaknesses in the walls of the block and this can be an issue above 330rwkw. So what benefit the typhoon's rods have are possibly nulled by the fact that the rest of the motor might not handle anything above 330rwkw anyway. In this case, if you want more power you will probably be better doing the whole engine, including billet rods and pistons as well as strenghtening the walls in the engine. This is the reason why I question the extra expense of the typhoon over the T for someone who just wants a fast turbo and not the Fpv status. Still, we are yet to see how they peform with mods.
