I say bring back the GTHO :spoton:

NO!

I reckon they should not bring back the GTHO. Not just yet anyway. Can you imagine FPV building a 350kw GTHO, only to have Clubsports with similar outputs within a few months?

The original GTHOs were unbeatable for 20 years. A new one would need to be that too.

Anthony

.

Mate ... 20 years? What are you on? Look out the other eye, not the Ford one, and think about that statement.

The GTHO was a fast car in a straight line. But it wasn't the quickest to 100kph. Nor was it quickest down the quarter. It was certainly the fastest in top speed and that's about it. Handling was OK, better than the standard GT of course, but it could never be called nimble or responsive to steering input. Braking likewise, barely adequate for it's mass and speed capability. It was a great long distance touring sedan, being both fast and comfortable, and as such it was deserving the tag of "GT".

There is a lot of legend about the GTHO and that's all good for Ford fans but in reality there were many cars in the 20 years following the GTHO that would (and did) run rings around it.

I really don't see the extra money in any of FPV's cars, over the standard Fords.

Unique bading and numbering, decals on bonnet and side skirt, 30kW more and a body kit / spoiler.

Most of these things can be done with 5 grand.

I'd have a HSV over an FPV anyday.

FPV doesn't do govt discounting. :w00t2: Which is probably a good thing for resale down the track. So until I save my own pennys I can't get one. I think I would buy a XR6T instead of an F6 anyway. If I spent even a small amount on the T it would be more bang for my buck than an F6.

Mate, they dont need to when they are offering GT's with leather and prem Sound for $57 driveaway as recently posted by Geesman.

l am sure this isi something they will start doing on the quiet to gain sales in the future, you just need to find the right dealer.
