Guest Guests Posted 05/10/04 11:36 PM Share Posted 05/10/04 11:36 PM I supose it dont if real figgures dont matter its just that dd designed shoot out to try and put every tunner on a simmilar level as innersia temp comp & intake temps not to mention the X factor all allow for a masive variation.on recipt of my 900kw dd twin retarder the rep showed me how to get almost 500rwkws from a 6cyl vk wagon which in real life only makes 65 at bestso parity to me at least is important as redcliffe also say shootout already has mchappy results
10sec_rx7 Member 13 Member For: 20y 6m 1d Posted 06/10/04 05:24 AM Share Posted 06/10/04 05:24 AM well done although dont you find that intake temps of 47 degrees are a little high for the inlet of the air box or filter sound like its to close to the exhaust for my liking considering room temp was set at 21 degrees! also if im not wrong are you suposed to have sixs on six cylinder mode and not eight cyl mode with higher innersia calabrations just an observation reason for using shoot_81 is the ramp rate on shoot_6 is too slow, it really drags on the run, all the shootout ramp rates are too slow for my liking, intake air temp sensor is placed inside the air intake to the air box, it is placed in the same spot for all cars, either wrapped around the pod filter or in the intake to the air box, intertia is the same for all shootout modes, only ramp rate changes, as for shootout making more power than not in shootout I have proved on many occasions most cars loose a little power when in shoot out mode.when the dynos are used correctly the results are repeatable, when people start messing with factors they shouldnt that's when you start getting into funny results, MRC are a shoot out workshop with all the latest calabrations and software. Posted 06/10/04 10:20 AM Share Posted 06/10/04 10:20 AM The best way to back up dyno figures is to get some 1/4 mile times. 285rwkw's should be good for a 12.2-12.5 depending on the conditions. Dyno's can be made to read high or low depending on the situation. When I was modding Boof I made sure that after each step I took him down the 1/4 to see what gains I had made in the real world. This way I knew that the dyno figures weren't just decorative pieces of paper. Dyno's are best used as a guide to how much of an improvement a mod has made. These are my opinions and that doesn't make them right or wrong, just what I think. Geea.
Guest Guests Posted 06/10/04 12:41 PM Share Posted 06/10/04 12:41 PM didnt mean to hit a soft spot just to say that when I got the first twin retarder dd I also got shootout v1 and when you looked at the bottom of the page it had encoded ramp rate, innersia , room temp, intake temp and so on and as accredited shootout workshop you were to adhere to the specific settings. hence the real reason for shoot out was to try and stop the beast that dd had created for themselves by allowing user definable calibrations. not getting into an argument as all I was trying to do was educate reader on how to read a dyno sheet. I have no problem with the integrity of the tester.
