You could try some Toyota wheels, same stud pattern as Ford. I've seen Toyotas with BA, AU and E series and also X series wheels.

No, the stud pattern hasn't changed - the offset has changed. AU/BA have 36mm offset. Pre AU have zero offset. Some pre AU (aftermarket widies) have 10mm offset. I don't know what wheels were on the BA but they were definitely 15" and they cleared the calipers easily from what I saw. If they were no more than 8" wide they could have been pre AU wheels with a 10mm offset and hence no problem at all with guard clearance - even zero offset 8" wide ones will fit inside the rear guard - but not on the front.

They are still going to sitck out at 0 offset. If they were 6" wide at +10 then MAYBE they'd stay within the guards but 8" wide at 0 or +10, no way. I've seen a few cars with pre-AU rims and they don't sit inside the guards.

It works with Ford wheels on Toyotas but it may not work the other way around because most 5-stud Toyotas will run a fairly high offset - +45 or +45 from memory.

15 inch steel rims wont fit without modifying the brakes but there are some aftermarket alloy wheels that do fit over the standard brakes. Hope that hepls
