Hi all,

Just had my T's 30000km service at a Ford Dealer in Morley WA + the usual warranty list of scraping rear brakes, clunking and whining diff, steering shudder and cracking sound from dash.

Nearly choked when I got the bill for $446.75!

Itemised as follows - GST added at end:

30k service labour = 161.80

Adjust dragging handbrake labour = 80.90 (shouldn't this be warranty?)

Oil Filter = $10.33

"2 units" of Castrol Magnatec = 89.12

Consumables and Environmental Compliance = $14.00

Coolant top up = $12.50

Pyroil Additives = $41.50

Add GST of $40.61 for a total of $446.75.

I complained about the additives and said the owners manual says not to use them, I wasn't asked about them and I don't want them. They quickly refunded the $41.50 (maybe they know they're a rip off?)

I asked what 1 unit of Oil was - they couldn't tell me (oh - we get it in drums), but $100 inc GST for 7 litres of Magnatec? WTF???

I'm going to let them know my feelings and was wondering what others have paid for a 30000km service. I feel it should have been about half of what I paid. The workshop manual says its only a "Service A" - 1 hr 12 mins + 50 odd minutes to tighten manifolds plus oil and filter.

Should the brake (shh, shhh) adjustment have been covered under warranty?

Would like to know your experiences and what you paid. Very tempted to find a good workshop and only go to dealer for warranty work....

Thanks

Mark

P.S. New diff on order, new RH axle and 1 tyre is cracking.

Mate you sure got ripped of there. For a start I have had my hand break adjusted about 3 times at no charge every time!

I just booked my car in for 50k service today and it’s going to cost me a total of $129. its just a minor service with oil and filter change. Plus I am getting a few warranty jobs done too, such as noisy idler pulleys (both to be replaced), front power windows clunk (to be fixed).

I have had no problem with my dealer at all. I had a few warranty jobs after I bought the car (used) and everything has been sorted thus far with no cost to me!

What sort of Dash crack do you have?? I had this problem where there was a loud snap from the dash when it was hot and got it sorted by my dealer.

Good luck! :spoton:

Well mate, I just did my 30k service and it cost me $220. Fair enough I am in Sydney, but over $400 is just plain wrong. Not only did I have it serviced they had to replace my whole instrument cluster due to gauge failure, a diff overhaul, usual dragging brake adjustment, a reflash aswell as a throttle body clean to sort out the hideous idle problems I had. These items were honoured under warranty and they are aware of my phase two Unichip mods...

There are dealers out there that will do what they can for extra cash. When I booked in at one dealer for the above problems and service, they wanted $330. When I questioned what was involved to justify the charge, they go and tell me that because it is turbo, the manifold gaskets have to be retensioned, hence the extra $110. When I approached the dealer that did the service, they tell me that retensioning is standard on the 30k service. That dealer will continue to get my business.

Hope that you can find a good dealer for future repairs and service.

GOOD LUCK

The dash crack happens on a hot day just after starting, when air con is on full and seems to come from the driver's side A Pillar. The fast cooling seems to cause it and going over bumps makes it worse. Only for the first 10 -15 mins of driving, but its loud and annoying.

Mate,

Same problem as what I had! And was it a bloody pain in the a$$!! :pooh:

But its all sorted now! :spoton:

If you have no luck with your dealer send me a PM and I will point you to the right person. My dealer had two goes at it, the entire dash had to come out. Its something to do with the firewall and insulation and the dash moving etc! They had to get in touch with Ford in Melbourne and a dealer in Darwin and got to the bottom of the problem. Melbourne had no idea coz they never get the hot days over there, but a dealer in Darwin had the fix for it.

Hope I can help you out coz I know how frustrating this clunk is! Mine was that loud that I thought someone was trowing stuff and hitting the windscreen, was bloody loud! Good luck!

Yeah mine does that too... its just plastic parts rubbing when they expand and contract, not much that can really be done about that.

I think I paid mid 100s for my service, I supplied 7L of magnatec and that cost me about 40 odd bucks compared to the 100+ they were going to charge for oil!

I wouldnt pay the labour for the handbrake... that is definately warranty.

Coolant top up 12.50??! EEK!!

It certainly pays to get the quote first and tell them if they dont follow it then your not paying any more. They should contact you before they do anything outside the agreed service quote.

15k service $189

30k Service $176

45k service $172

60k service $320 included a new fuel filter and new driving light and handbrake adjust which they charged me $40 for.

Anyone who pays more than $220 for an "A" listed service is getting ripped off.

All warantee work has been done at no cost (handbrake adjust at 60k is not considered warantee as this is only apparently only covered for 50k if you read the fine print)

Location Melb area (Cranbourne)

Take that back to your dealer and see what he has to say.

Far out Mark...that's big bisuits for a 30k service...mine will be due for a 30k service soon and I use the same dealer. Will definitely be prepared when I see them.

Yep - big bikkies indeed. Thanks for all your responses - I have been ripped off! I've sent the service manager and GM an email ncluding a link to this thread. If they come to the party, I'll let you all know.

Thanks

Hey ASS255, Can you tell me the dealer in Syd that you used. I am in Syd and I don't think the Dealer I bought the car from has a very good rep when it comes to there Service Dept.
