Well technically its only been 24 hours. Since I raced him @ 7.30 last night

To gti-R man

Just want to clarify something here

I read in an earlier post that you raced on an airstrip

That the dubbo car club use it around every 2 months

So dubbo car club was there tuesday night ( Yesterday )

and the time was 7:30 at night

Is this correct

Ummmmmm ...nope...The car club actually races during the day. when there is some sunlight. But there were a few wabbits we had to clear off the strip on a recon run...lol....The Dubbo car club had a meet a few weeks ago....But being a small town, you tell one and the rest know about it by lunchtime....and they did.....

So we will have to be real quiet next time we go out there.....lol......but I will get Paul to post next time.....he the xr6 owner....

We ran at night because the council is actually extending the strip so there are workers there during the day at the moment.....I know, council + work doesn't sound right. They might be contractors.

Ok, perhaps I wasnt clear in my initial explanation of Ford's behaviour.

there is a concept in economics known as 'price discrimination', the gist of it is that vendors of goods and services offer products which can extract as much money out of each customer. Why sell one model of car at, say, $45k if there are people out there willing to pay $65k?

This is why car manufacturers offer so many models...so they can extract as much money out of each punter. In order to do this they must offer features that people are willing to pay for. Today people are willing to pay $45k for the 240kW Falcon...accordingly Ford offer the Typhoon for $60k.

I could write an essay on this stuff...Ive got a degree in advertising/marketing from the Uni of Canberra.

It all boils down to the dollar...

Do not forget that there was also pressure to perform against Holden. They have not been doing this for some years previous to the BA series of Falcons.

Which yes comes back to $$$, after all bigger piece of the pie = MORE MUCHOS.

I think that they should have taken steps to take more of the pie, and put some real pressure on Expensive Daewoo fans, by making the XR6T 270kw at least. Imagine the noobs over in Expensive Daewoo Technical development. How good would their 195kw SV6 look against the XR6T 270kw (I think it would look better than 195 vs 240, but that is stating the obvios)? Pretty darn average. And for the price, they may have convinced kids like Gti-R (I mean it in a nice way) to find a way to source more money.

:spoton::glad:

That was the point I was trying to make from the start. Ford had the car, had the power, had the engineering. They should have made it 270kw from the Start.

As for convincing kids ..aka..me..I don't take offense as I was a kid, about 17 years ago.

Its just I couldn't afford the XR6T right now. And don't have the patience to save, so I got the gti-r. Never driven one till I got in this suxer and I will be quiet happy till I get some more money to get that dream car of mine. The XR6T with a APS kit. :glad:

I know this because my uncle owns a ford dealership.

What the fugg does that have to do with anything. Dealers can't get their sh1t together half the time. Heres a tip for free. Go tell your uncle to stop lying to you, family members should treat you better.

Your in form Rob.

'gti-r man', you have to remember that the XR6T weigh's close to 1.9 tonne...not really a fair challenge.

Try 1700kg. Ive been on a public weighbridge to obtain this figure, tank was almost empty if I recall. I wasnt in vehicle at the time.

If you have all the options on the car and have 2 people in there you would easily be getting close to 1.9 tonne.

:w00t2: Turbodewd, and ontop of that you cannot have the XR6T being more powerful and beating the XR8, they already have enough problems trying to sell them. On paper the T is suposedly slower (on Paper!) hence ther is a reasonable power difference 240 vs 280kw between the two models, and a price range to reflect that.

It's only when you get the basic sales pitch at the dealers 240 vs 280kw so on paper it justifies the different $$, but it's not until you get into the club or forum scene that you realise the T's quicker.

A GTi-R beat an XR6 Turbo?

No offence dude, but your friend obviously doesn't know how to drive the car "WELL".

Having said this, I've beaten

- Nissan Skyline R33 GTR (in stock form)

- Nissan 200SX (exhaust/aftermarket computer/intercooler etc)

- Nissan 300ZX's / 350Z's

- BWM M3's (even the new 03 models)

- Toyota Supra Turbo and non turbo (moded and stock)

- WRX STi's / Normal WRX's (moded and stock)

- Expensive Daewoo R8's and Monaros

- Ford XR8 BA and AU *me ducks*

- Nissan Skyline R34 GTT and GTR (the GTR was 30cm or so infront not really a win)

Having said this, beaten doesn't neccaserily mean "massive" car lengths, I think besides the R8, Supra T, 350Z, 300ZX and 200sx the rest where quiet good/even battles.

The point is, even if you have 30kw's more then me, If Im a good driver, I will pull on you. Every gear, to each RPM is important.

My car? Stock as anything with a K&N replacement filter running rich as Bill Gates (250km out of a full tank)....but heck... reading this is disappointing.

Maybe we should organise some day to "trial" your car with some other XR6 T's.

The only car that I can comfortably say ripped my T to shreds, was an AUDI S4 02 Model (twin turbo models), he pulled around 5 car lengths on me and I could not catch up even on top end.

Oh and that SL55 AMG that ripped me a few weeks ago.

Beat GTR's I dont think so
