Am I the only one who's a bit disappointed by the XR6T auto's standing start?

Once its moving its great, don't take me wrong I love the car but I wonder if something can be done just to help it off the mark (without going to 16"s).

Does anyone else think this or have I been spoiled by manuals?

brake and restrain till the auto is loaded and the rpm is 1700-1900.... let the brake go and plant the right foot ... 0-100 in less than 6 every time ... the quarter in about 13.8-14.00

I was so embarassed to see my mates stock VR sitting beside me 'till about the 100m mark

I've Tried revving it a bit but I worry about the auto.

relax, what it lacks off the line it makes up for a little later :D then its all smiles and sad GMH owners :lol:

Looking at the manual - It is quoted as doing the 0-100 in 5.9 seconds - that is only .25 seconds behind the WRX 0-100 and a full 2.2 seconds faster than the Commodore.

Having only driven the Demo so far (2 months to go till mine arrives :() I got a 6.2 second 0-100 but that was cause there was a salesman next to me - I wouldn't worry as with familiarity comes the way to drive this car - she's fast enough trust me!

I believe this lag we experience with the auto's off the start will be fixed with an ECU Upgrade ie Unichip.

Coming from an AUXR8, Auto, to this, XR6T Auto... the take off is disappointing, no questions asked. Sure you can rev it up, and yes it does take off much quicker, but I'd rather just plant the foot. And yes this car, once it hits say 30km/h, is quick.... very quick, and leaves many people impressed. However I can understand the poor low down response.

Personally I'm on a "half hearted" mission to improve mine... I'm hoping an exhaust change will help??

Anyone know how to get more torque down low without pulling out the six and putting in an 8?

I was told that 1st gear doesnt allow full tork down low. I am a little disapointed with the performance off the mark, but im hoping that this low boost git will overcome any of these problems, im sure 252kw at the rear wheels should help

Probably a mix of tall 1st gear and the nature of how Ford have programmed the ECU. I was talking to an APS bloke last week, and he was saying that the 6psi boost is only on for a bit, not sure of the exact times, rpm's et but starts off 1psi, builds up to just over 4000rpm then tapers off again. So really, the current XR6T is pretty tame. The potential of this car is huge.

Apparently APS have a chip that makes the 6psi boost constant throughout the rev range...so u have the grunt all the way through

Ford dont have to do much with the next model. Put in the 3650 tremec, change the diff ratio and reprogram the ECU...done....BFYB all day.....

I have inserted a pressure relief valve between the ECU controlled relief valve and the wastegate and the improvement in torque down low is quite phenomenal!!

The problem is that you are walking on a knifes edge when adjusting pressure - too low and no improvement can be felt, just slightly too high and the bottom torque is good, but the ECU retards ignition to the point where the car actually gets slower with increased boost.

I agree with CJF077 that upgraded ECU programming should see a lot of improvement in bottom end torque, and also more power in higher rev. ranges :hmmm:
