The book written by so many others, other than the so called man in question, is full of contradictions, and primitive thoughts of an ancient imagination. Like someone else has said it is a strong point to say it was invented to control the masses, but like we all know powerful people like others to fight and go to war for them to feed their hunger for more power, hence RELIGION was invented to give the fighters and their families something to look foward to if they die in battle (history of ancient warfare, shows the religious talkings before each battle was common in just about every ancient civilisation.)But to war we shall march in the name of god, allah, budah, the sun god, Zeus and anyother soul in the sky.In saying this I believe our life at the moment is just a stepping stone to something even more complex, do away with our bodies and our spirit is free to explore the next levels of life, where the realisation is you control your own destiny, and the influence of other peoples thoughts will not help you understand yourself. So why is it religious leaders expect the masses to believe in their Creator, which alot of people do, but out of this large group of believers a small minority find it hard to believe that UFO's could actually be real, I mean there is no definite proof for either, but we call religious people BELIEVERS. Just 1 contradiction I could use.

I must disagree. Those who cause the suffering, pain and war are ones who do not believe in their religion, but in their own ability to bring about conflict resolution rather than their gods. While im not an expert on other religeons, the christian religion does not support violence in any form. I would like to believe that no other real religions do either. The fanatics who believe in their own power more than their gods are the ones who cause problems. Quote If there was a God....Children would not get cancer.Yes that is a terrible part of life but the bible does say that sickness, illness and disease are a result of man's own rebellion from god way back in the form of adam and eve's choice to eat the apple. That point you made is one of the reasons why I struggle to define the humanity or compassion of god. Also why then do children suffer for the wrong doings of two ADULTS, shouldn't illness and suffering be left for the adults and children to grow up in the innoccence in which they view the world, religion I am sorry is not helping these kids then but doing worse than any war could, and that is inflict pain on someone so young and primitive to the world. Quote Also why then do children suffer for the wrong doings of two ADULTS, shouldn't illness and suffering be left for the adults and children to grow up in the innoccence in which they view the world,Yes, but unfortunately the wrongs of adults are passed down to children from generation to generation just as the sins of man were passed down from adam to all his decendants, and the sins of the paretns were passed down from their parents. It is a cruel situation but according to the bible that's what happens when you part company with god.Personally im not sure I agree with it all but in some ways it makes sense. Forced to go to church and listen to mindless drivel dished up by those who ought to have known better. 3 years ago I was invited to local church and I said "oh well see what happens". It was the best thing I have ever done. I found genuine people, compasionate about faith and a place I did not feel out of place in. I attended a course called the "Pathways to purpose" in this course it revealed Gods purpose and indeed our own purpose in lifeLets face it if our only purpose has to be born eat, die and fight Ford for a decent service on our XR6's then its a bit of a waste.I have a large telescope that I enjoy looking through. In blank parts of the sky to the naked eye, the scope reveals millions of stars. Who put em there?, was it by chance, who in reality even started it all and will end it all, simple GOD. If you can come up with a better view that can work then I am all ears.Adam and Eve were the start of right from wrong. GOD puropse is for all to have choice and that's where it came from. Before that all was rosy. Imagine taking your car to Ford and it be fixed perfectly, better still imagine it not being faulty at all. The biggest single thread on the Forum would not exist. Nothing much else would either. God gave us choice. Now on judgement day I will say Yes I believe. If you think for one miinute Ii am going to hell to change oil on commodores until the end of time you have got to be kidding............There are some wonderful churches out there that are not catholic or protestant that worship our Lord who did die for us for our sins. Try reading the Bible before you pass judgment on it. We are quick to judge even without any knowledge. If all a big hoax then there are billions of suckers. I don't think so somehow. Its a oot easier to dismiss GOD than to believe. Once you believe your life will change. I noted after Sept 11 that churches had a 25% increase in numbers. How come did they all have a does of the guilts? We turn to churches and religion in times of need. Try giving GOD a go for your everyday life - you may be surprised how it helps.Just a thought...............

I would rather spend my sundays sleeping off a hangover and then going out for a drive in the hills. I don't mind people who are into the whole religion thing, if its what they like go for it, just don't try pushing it onto me and trying to make me believe. To me religion is just something that people invented to explain things that our minds cannot grasp. Like where all this came from, how can space not have boundaries, UFOs and how Ford can't snag a win at Bathurst lately. Religion is good in theory, just like Communism. If eveyone followed the 10 commandments then everyone would be happy as larry. Its a nice idea but like Communism it will never work..I hate seeing dumb (usually American) sportsmen thanking God for sinking putt for the win on the 18th hole. You really think if there is a God he would be bothered helping you win prizemoney for hitting a ball around! Jeez! Its all luck. To me the reason Cro is still with us is that Ford engineers did their jobs and designed as safe car. Why did Senna get killed? He was so religious its not funny. He was unlucky, simple. Thank God . I am a very firm believer in the ethos of Christianity and believe that "do unto others" etc has a lot of merit as a life philosophy. As some one has already posted the key word = respect.Doesn't matter your creed, colour, inclination or tolerance.Mutual respect and acceptance will no doubt serve to provide a better place for our children to live. I reference a previous post I made , how many places in the cosmos train their weapons on themselves Good thing go figure Good honest and wholesome cant hurtNot WhiteTee
