As a few friends know I have recently changed computers in my ute. I had a fuel reg. and a unichip computer before and running 11 psi achieving only 245rwkw. Which by the way was on the borderline of blowing up. Now I have gone to more programmable computer which actually controls the injectors flow and timing, spark etc. and fine tunes the engine. My ute is the first XR6 Turbo to have one fitted. The results have been outstanding. This has been in the process for the last 4 to 5 weeks. So that a few people understand, a Unichip computer only tricks the signals to the standard computer and does not control your injectors 100%. Also with unichip you will find you have less torque over standard. that's why they only give you RWKW figures.

I am not trying to start a debate here or any arguements, I am just telling it how it is. I still think that APS has achieved the most with the XR6 Turbo's and they are still ahead of the rest. But now there are many choices and many ways to go about modifying our cars.

The computer I have installed is called an EMS who are based in Sydney. It was fitted by a mate of mine Vince at V&E Rigoli Racing at Wetherill Park. Better known for his black Datsun 1200 ute which currently runs 8.25 sec. 1/4 Mile. My ute has achieved 268.9 rwkw with only 10psi. The torque has increased dramatically as well. The ute drives so different and so much smoother I still cant believe it. It was also tuned on only BP ultimate. I have been driving the car daily to work and do approx. 200 kms. a day and its been awesome. Currently I have run a 13.02@112mph with wheel spin of the line with a 2.4 60 foot. that's with 18inch worn out street tyres. This week hopefully I will have injectors and fuel pump installed and with a Re-tune it would be interesting.

Like I said earlier I am not trying to start anything but I am just expressing my experiences and views.

Thanks for the support Guys. <_<

As for the pricing on the computer, I think it will be around $2000 supplied, fitted and Dyno tuned. Also not forgetting with that power figure I have a frount mount intercooler which is from APS, but will be selling it soon. Due to a new intercooler which is currently being made. But I will try to keep you up to date guys.

Nice results , I have used the ems before on my other car and it did a great job. I assume you are only using the EMS to control fuel and Ignition or cam timming aswell? and the ford unit to do the rest.

Only thing I dont agree with is that surley a car which is producing substantialy more rwks really has to produce more torque they go hand in hand.

Great results is it auto?

Cheers Frank

Sound's great XRSex. Couple of questions. Is that time before or after the new cpu? Why are you changing intercoolers, what have you found about the APS unit that you think can be improved on?

Would it be possible for you to do a detailed write up of your mods and experiences as this sounds like it could be a great option. <_<

Geea. :glad:
