Therefore, same diff - slower AWD.When I had a WRX the AWD I reckon was a disadvantage most of the time as you could not break traction when launching, it absorbed more power (drivetrain loss) and made the car heavier. It became an advantage only when traction was an issue, ie wet roads and roundabouts. I always wondered if you could disable and remove the front WRX diff to get rid of the weight to see how it went. I think a RWD WRX (not heavily modifed where the traction was required) would have a better power to weight and would be quicker and understeer a hell of a lot less. This thread started by looking at AWD as an option to 450kW through the rear wheels only. Obviously the weight and drivetrain loss would be worth it in this case. I agree that it can be difficult to get a good start in a WRX due to the traction and bogging down. But once you do some basic mods it's not that hard to get the front wheels spinning and a better launch but you really need some wheelspin to get a good a good launch especially at Calder. I found that on a normal bituman even with basic mods 5500rpm will spin the wheels no problem but at calder bogged down so much the revs went below 3000rpm so had to dump the clutch at 6000rpm +++Robbie. Robbie,Dumping clutches at 5500-6000 rpm sounds expensive. Guest Guests Posted 06/10/04 12:18 PM Share Posted 06/10/04 12:18 PM turbo territory sounds fine, awd xr6t dont sound like good value for money unless you want to make a statement to which you must start with a large bank statement!
