I doubt the AWD system would cope with 300kw though :k24t:

Why is that Zap <_<

Ford seem to under engineer their drivelines. Aside for the good old days with Top loaders and 9" diffs, they seem to think $$$'s before performance :glad:

Putting a XR6 turbo on a Territory would be a piece of cake, I doubt the AWD system would cope with 300kw though :nono:

hsv has 270kw running through a near identical bosch awd system. :nono:

think the coupe4...

Coupe4 is not all its made out to be. God knows why they only made it in auto. A mate of mine got to race one in his vs hsv gts with only twin 2.5inch exhaust and he beat it by a car length :gooff: .

Bloody holdens...

The Coupe 4 ran a 14.7 quarter mile in Motor. What a slug. Why pay $90,000 on something that would get eaten by an XR6T, XR8, GT, SV8, SS, Clubsport etc. It may have 270kw running through the Bosch AWD system but only 470NM. A modified T would have too much torque for it I think.

dont awd accelerate slower ?

Ummmm NO!. That would be why WRX's are so fast down the 1/4 for a 2.0L, they do however weigh more, usually.

Ummm YES!! AWD's do accelerate slower. Don't confuse a wild hi rpm launch of an AWD with pure acceleration. An AWD drivetrain loses more % in transferring the power the the wheels, so identicle cars for example lets say a 240kw XR6T and a hypothetical 240kw AWD XR6T, even if weight wasnt involved the RWD model would win from a 50-60km/h roll where a launch isnt involved.

Well I wasnt being that technical, and I am pretty sure hello wasnt either. If the rear drive xr6T and fantasy xr6T were drag raceing I would be putting my money on the AWD.

I understand that the Territory RWD and AWD have very similar 0-100 times, but only because the heavier AWD has a different diff ratio to compensate. Therefore, same diff - slower AWD.

When I had a WRX the AWD I reckon was a disadvantage most of the time as you could not break traction when launching, it absorbed more power (drivetrain loss) and made the car heavier. It became an advantage only when traction was an issue, ie wet roads and roundabouts. I always wondered if you could disable and remove the front WRX diff to get rid of the weight to see how it went. I think a RWD WRX (not heavily modifed where the traction was required) would have a better power to weight and would be quicker and understeer a hell of a lot less.

This thread started by looking at AWD as an option to 450kW through the rear wheels only. Obviously the weight and drivetrain loss would be worth it in this case.

You can disconnect the AWD system in the R32 GTR skyline and run it as rear wheel drive, when this was done in a mates R32 it ran .8 sec slower down the quarter, but had a higher top speed.
