OK it gets weirder......I stopped the car, left the accessories on and the alarm siren still went of when I came back and started it. Could the battery voltage drop to much while cranking and the alarm thinks its being disconnected?

Oh well I found out why the alarm goes off when I crank it a cell is on the way out in the battery, anyone have any idea on battery warranty?? really not in the mood to buy batteries on a yearly basis.:thumbsup:

I don't know about over there but in NZ the Exide batteries we use have a twelve month warrenty on them. Take it to the dealer since Ford brought the battery they will have to claim on the fault. Ie the dealer should get you a new battery via FoMoCo.

More than Likely 12 months, but possibly 24 months. I remember seeing 24 months in the car/service manual somewhere, but buggered if I remember what for... Possibly battery.

Ok thanks guys, one question though FORDTECH, shouldn't I be able to start it even with the bonnet open? Reason is, I have a shock sensor connected to the bonnet trigger, you think this could be causing it, was going to disconnect it and see if it still did it before I go back to service anyway, but that's all that stopping someone smashing a window.

Yes you should be able to start the vehicle with the bonnet open because theoretically you have to open the car before you open the bonnet so the alarm would be disabled anyway. However I would disconnect the shock sensor and try that to see if it may be the problem.

Reagrding your battery, there is a 24 month warranty on it so just visit your dealer for a replacement free of charge(you dont mind replacing them so often when they're free)

NOOO - and the warranty on these 120 buck batteries another 12 months GET REAL you tight p@#$ks.

Sorry NTTURBO I was unaware of the owners handbook stating this.I spend more time reading workshop manuals than owners handbooks(That's the sales staff job) but it's strange that all the replacement genuine Ford batteries that I have fitted carry a 24mth warranty and the original fit doesnt.Im pretty sure that the factory fit batteries I have removed from vehicles have a label stuck to them stating that they have a 24mth warranty. Will have to check that(just happen to have a sh@tload of em kicking around at work).

Funny thing is that the factory fit battery is rated at 430CCA and the replacement one listed through Ford spares is 520CCA.(I smell some more cost cutting).

Thanks for the feedback anyway FORDTECH, maybe they dont trust the batteries for as long up here, but ford only offered 12 months on what they had (here).

NT, I always thought that the warrenty issue was paid by Fo Mo Co, not the dealer? The dealer shouldn't worrie about the cost since they get it back from Ford. Get the new battery ( the 520 CCA one ) from them. If ford have a concern tell them to contact the manufacturer. To me the dealer attitude stinks!!!! Do you guys have a commerce commision over there?
