Does unichip or Xede allow for different maps to be selected on the fly? I know the TurboXS (Sydney based) u-tec which is very popular over here in the USA for WRX/STi and EVO have an optional switch that lets you choose between different maps without a laptop. Is pretty good, can have a map for times you can get your regular petrol, then other maps for C16 etc... Best of all it has Valet mode! It is something like keeps revs to 3500-4000rpm then induces a rev limiter, a top speed of around 50-60km/h and wont boost over 6psi or so... I have wondered why TurboXS dont get into the XR6T tuning game. They make some decent stuff.

The Xede has the ability to change maps on the fly. I think it can only have 2 maps though.

Can anyone answer this

I'd think that any aftermarket chip could be tuned to run on what ever petrol you like. I beleive that some cars in Nth Qld are tuned to 95ron. My power map in Boof was tuned to 100ron.

Geea did you constantly have put fuel additives into your tank so you can run the 100ron tune without pinging? If so what did you use?

When ever I wanted to run the performance map I needed an additive. I always used Nulon Prostrength Octane Booster. I had done some research and decided this was the best. When I picked the car up I also found out that this is what Amberley used when they tuned it. They also reccommended that this is what I should use.

Just before I lost Boof I bought a 4lt tin of this stuff and I have only used 300ml. This isn't cheap either. 500ml cost $20-25. I guess I'll have to keep the rest for when I go travelling and there is no Optimax available. I have asked that both tunes in the new car be to normal Optimax so I can use both all the time.

Geea, are you just going to get a more aggressive tune put into the second map setup for optimax and for track work? as in a bit more boost or whatever that you will use on the strip.

With the Unichip computer we can tune the engine to run on 98 ron premium unleaded and if you need to run on a lower octane fuel from time to time we can also generate a second map to cater for either 91 or 95 octane fuel. :spoton:

Hi Peter

Is the second map setup available now?

I would like to have a second map on my XR. I would like a low boost setting ( 9PSI ) and a high boost setting ( 11.5 PSI ).

Would it be a toggle switch setup?

Cheers
