I'd think that any aftermarket chip could be tuned to run on what ever petrol you like. I beleive that some cars in Nth Qld are tuned to 95ron. My power map in Boof was tuned to 100ron.

what Geea said, it would be best to get it tuned for 98ron only, but supply might be a problem for some people.

No it's not the cost of fuel, it's the availability. For example I'm going to Tassie in a couple of months and there is no 98RON there (not that I will have APS or other mods by then anyway).

Runs perfectly on Caltex Vortex and a lot less soot than with Optimax too ..... Phase II with standard exhaust.

Im sure you can have it tunned to what ever fuel you like, If you mainly use 98 then get it tunned for that and just carry a bottle of octane booster for those remote areas, that's what I do.

Does unichip or Xede allow for different maps to be selected on the fly? I know the TurboXS (Sydney based) u-tec which is very popular over here in the USA for WRX/STi and EVO have an optional switch that lets you choose between different maps without a laptop. Is pretty good, can have a map for times you can get your regular petrol, then other maps for C16 etc... Best of all it has Valet mode! It is something like keeps revs to 3500-4000rpm then induces a rev limiter, a top speed of around 50-60km/h and wont boost over 6psi or so... I have wondered why TurboXS dont get into the XR6T tuning game. They make some decent stuff.

Mine required 98 to avoid pinging.
