Basically I just had mycomputer wiped clear of errors and stuff, and now the car is playing up big time!!The car revs to like 2500 revs when I first start it in the morning and stays there for ages!!! When I selected reverse for the first time the car seeming runs out of petrol, making huge thumping noises!! But once its warm it all runs fine!!Just wondering if wiping the ECU would affect the unichip in anyway?? Posted 21/09/04 09:35 AM Share Posted 21/09/04 09:35 AM The unichip should not effect the computor in this way.Does the engine light come on when this happens. It may be a throttle body probelm.what codes were in there to begin with.Ian Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/12975-how-does-the-unichip-affect-the-ecu/#findComment-167439 Share on other sites

The fact that after the car warms up I can stick ti in reverse as many times as I like without any trouble!!The other thing the guys at ford did was fix a fuel line near the tank, they had to drop the whole back end out to fix it!! It as if the car is running out of petrol and then stalling! Its the exact feeling you get when u try to roll start a car with a flat batt, just goes thump thunp thump!! I too have high idle on cold start up. Ford did'nt believe it would be a throttle body problem and did a flash upgrade instead which hasn't helped. Whats involved in cleaning the throttle body and does it have to be done by Ford?By the way - SSinduction / Filter and Centre Muffler mods only, no chipSteve Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/12975-how-does-the-unichip-affect-the-ecu/#findComment-167723 Share on other sites

Posted 22/09/04 07:37 AM Share Posted 22/09/04 07:37 AM Throottle body can be cleaned using a clean rag and opening the butterfly and wiping it out this may help but I think you will find it is the electrics in the throttle body itself.I have seen 2 xr8's in the last week with the same problem and that's what they needed.Ian Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/12975-how-does-the-unichip-affect-the-ecu/#findComment-167735 Share on other sites

(which it shouldnt but you never know)try spraying some of that throttle body cleaner inside (retails about $8 a can).. just unhook your intake pipe and spray while holding revs at about 2500/3000.
