Guest StevenAU2 Guests Posted 18/03/03 03:04 AM Share Posted 18/03/03 03:04 AM Someone told me a good upgrade would be to install DBA slotted disks and use a higher temp brake pad.How would this compare to the Premium brake package(I dont know what the Premium pack consits of??)... As my neighbour has an XR6T with standard brakes. I just picked up my car from service. they used the brake trest machine on it and reported a 30% brake performance differential over the standard BA brakes. My car has premiums and they are very good and in my view essential for this car to stop effectivley. The stopping distance is fantastic..... Premium no question about it. If brakes are an issue at all for you, spend the money on them. This car can deliver serious speed and there are times when you need to stop. Fast. See its simple! No point going on about the value. They are integrated and tested and they work well.

They are an extra $ option. The AU3 and BA are very similar brakes so I'd say its very close to the Pursuit ute for brakes but with the 506 on the front not 355mm. Though I believe the GT will have very different offset wheels to clear the brakes. So you'd need GT wheels to fit them to other models. Aftermarket Brembo kits are in development. I never had a problem with those. These brakes are the worst I have ever seen. Sure they stop you, and do it quite well, but if you have to stop quite a few times that's when the problem starts! As soon as they get some heat into them they warp. They don't even get a chance to fade, and even if there was fade you wouldn't be able to tell over the shudder it causes I agree with the option of DBA, and the guy who looks after my car suggested that, however shouldn't the point be that Ford at least produce brakes that work on the car that they were designed to STOP! :nugget: This is a 240kW 1800kg family sedan!
