easy to get it chipped there is heaps of places around but what you also want to do is get a bigger hard disk install in it at the same time that way you can store all your movie music and so on the xbox much easier and faster

the lead you can buy from ford or I have one you could take mine and ill order another but my lead setup is about $300 but that comes with all the rca plugs you will ever need and the plugs so you can hook more amps up with the stock one that comes with the sound system

also what you want to get to is 2 more lcd screens put them in the back of the head rests this is what I also have

that way you have 3 tv's playing the same thing and another thing you may want is a digital tv set top box then you plug everything into that and you get digital tv with all the fuze of the normal tv setups in cars

2) You need to have the EEPROM set to NTSC, to do this requires chipping the xbox. The chip can be removed once this is set, Remember at this point chipping your xbox is actually illlegal unless you're goingt o run Linux on it.

3) I bought a few for my project and testing, they're not available in AU that easily but in Asia (HK) yup. Make sure you don't get a J-SCART which is not RGB, but Component. Either get one with the audio outputs extra - or you'll have to tap the audio lines when you remove the SCART plug.

- The xbox end of the plug tells the xbox what kind of output it needs to drive, through a small combo of pins being joined in certain ways.

4-5) You'll probably find that you will need two plugs to get enough on the pin inserts to populate one connector. Of these pins you will have 4 that are used for the video signals, one that is ground, one that needs to be grounded to activate the overlay (input), and one that outputs the IR signals detected by the IR eye on the ICC. Pinouts are in other threads on the topic.

6) Yup - it would have two female RCA at one end and male 3.5mm headphone plug at the other. If you've just tapped the SCART connector wiring then you just need shielded cable and a 3.5mm plug and do some wiring up.

7) Yup, it faces the front of the car and is mounted above the tissue holder on the left side. You do it by feel.

Personally I don't like intertors, but yes get one from Jaycar and if it draws less than 30A plug it into the ciggy lighter. My project invloves modding a Mini-ITX 12v supply and feeding that from a inverting switchmode DC-DC supply that tolerates cranking voltage drops etc. Also has 'smart' abilities to control the xbox after ign off and low battery etc.

The project is really as easy (or hard) as you choose to make it. When running SCART ouput the xbox will also put out a CVBS that you can split out to other TFTs in the car. (Ala xarh6turbo suggestion)

But to correct xarh6turbo, only the audio input lead is available from Ford, it just gives you the 3.5mm socket below the tissue box. If you do a custom job yourself you'll save a couple of $$ and be able to locate a couple fo the inputs whereever you like. I have one in the glovebox normally, another in the stock position and the final one will terminate at the location of the completed xbox and media management system.

Another plug you can use is an Aerpro one for the factory Toyota deck. I used that in mine, and it comes with another plug so you can get more pins out if need be. Cost me $15

Edit - Aaron have you made this 12v powersupply for the xbox or is it just an idea? If you've made it, any chance of getting the schematics for it? :D

That all sounds simple for someone that knows what it means but to someone like me its pretty complicated. Would you be interested in making up the required parts and selling them in kit form. If so there would probably be quite a few people interested from here. I'm happy to get the aux imput from Ford and put that in and if you'd be able to get the wiring needed to connect the xbox to what ever it needs to be connected to with some simple instructions.

If you are interested could you do an approximate price? This would have to include the cost of all parts aswell as a cost for your time. I'm sure everyone would be happy for you to make money on this idea. I'd be happy to pay by direct debit in advance if the price is right.

I been working on a similar project my self but I want to use VGA instead of x box but I have found that an EF/EL Heat dimester/Antenna Adj that is used on the fairmont ghia will fit the sat nav interface located benith the icc you will need to get another connector as the plug only comes with 4 pins and you need 6 to run the icc

there is no need for the blaupaunt cable and I have found a circuit diagram so we can create a h/v sync to composite converter at the moment I can get a screen up but by video card on pc is dodgy

but the screen is defently ntsc 640 x 480 and should be treated as if it was a tv rather than a lcd..........

keep you posted on how we go
