It may not be as easy to use as a dedicated in-car dvd player however it does more for less. You needSignal converter eg Blaupunkt IVSC-5501 or similar (about $300)Converter-to-ICC lead - Blau make these, retail for $180- I have a spare one that you can have for $150Chipped xbox- around $300 these daysPower inverter- about $80Aux input lead- if you don't already have one, they are $28 from Ford.Total cost would be around 800 bucks if you don't have any of the components already. The best thing about it is that it can be used to play mp3s, video clips (eg mpegs and avis), display photos- as well as playing DVDs. The signal converter also has provisions for additional monitor outputs and additional NTSC video inputs too. That will allow the addition of a TV tuner etc.And it's not too difficult to install either.Cheers,Anthony Do you have mates rates? What about instalation for some car mats/car remote, you know a trade of sorts? I believe that Blaupunkt have a signal converter HERE would they do the same job?Does the Blaupunkt signal converter just plug into the auxillitory plug like a I-Pod?Geea. Nah mate, that thing looks like just a glorified RCA double adapter. That Blau unit is exactly what you're after. Off memory I paid about US$250 including shipping. It is around AU$500 here.I am not quite sure what you mean about the I-Pod - but the IVSC-5501 has 5 video/audio inputs. They consist of four pairs of 3 RCA plugs (1 is for video, the other two are for L/R audio), and a VGA type plug (which has audio built in). It has four composite AV outputs and a VGA output to make five in total. Video sources simply plug in to one side of the unit, and the output lead goes from the other side to the plug under the ICC. Audio does not pass through the IVSC-5501 - it goes directly to the factory AUX input plug.A.. So does this mean that what ever I do I'm going to need the Aux imput socket? Also I have been doing some looking around. Will the Blaupunkt IVSC-3302 do the same job? Or maybe the IVSC-5502?I appreciate all the imput. :o Geea. :o Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/12838-dvd-players-with-premium-sound/page/2/#findComment-166010 Share on other sites

The adapter is $28 from Ford spare parts- or you can make one for much less by following THESE instructions by Aaron. But by the sounds of things it seems like you are already using your AUX input for an I-Pod, correct? If so, you can simply use double adapters to allow both the I-Pod and the DVD player to use the AUX socket.I believe that the 5502 is a newer version of the 5501. I have also been told that the smaller 1- and 3- port 1102 and 3302 will also work - and should be cheaper - but I have not used these. I use the 5501 and it works fine.. Do you know if your supplier can get prices on the smaller 1- and 3- port 1102 and 3302 Blaupunkt units. If so would they do the job. Are you able to use the unchipped xbox to play normal games or does it need to be chipped?Geea.
