Yep, that's right. :nono:

Only problem you poor smokers have is that the majority of us are FOLLOWING YOU AROUND and TAKING OVER YOUR DESIGNATED AREAS and then having you banned from them as well.

You poor b@stards can't win - if it isn't bad enough that you are killing yourselves by smoking, and not doing it cheaply I might add, but to cap it off you then have the rest of us non-smoking whingers making your (shortened) life miserable in the process.:nuts2:

You just wait till your favourite resteraunt closes it's outdoor eating area's because there isn't a need for them anymore. Wait till it costs more in maintenance and council rent than they are worth.

Then watch 20% of their business goes elsewhere, to places that allow smoking.

Watch their profits fall far enough to shut shop.

In the end you are not only hurting the smokers, you are hurting local business, and you are loosing your favourite resteraunt.

OK, so tonight before I go to bed I will offer up a little prayer that all you smokers may live a long and healthy life so that the world economy doesn't collapse in a heap.

Please DOG, let my friend Cro and all his smoking friends live a long and healthy life so that they may enjoy their favourite pastime, but please DOG, just don't let it be around me!!!

Ummmm........you voluntarily got onto a train to travel to/from work. Although it may have been difficult, you did have alternatives to catching the Tube.

You're making assumptions. I did not have alternatives to catching the tube. To be more precise, I had to commute from south of London to North of London, as follows -

Bus to train station at Woking

Train to South London (WaterLoo)

2 tube trains to North London (WaterLoo / Oxford Circus / Kings Cross)

Train to St Albans

Taxi to the Office.

Trip took on average 2 hrs each way.

Why ?, well I was banned from driving, so this was not an option. Buses were not an option, with the exception of replacing the tube, but this would have probably added another hour to the journey.

And before you make another assumption as to why I was banned from driving, it was on medical grounds. I sufffer from petit mal....And if you don't know what that is, I suggest you look it up in the dictionary.

Trust me my friend, I know what a petit mal is, and how it differs from a grand mal. I dont need a dictionary to look that up, my verbal repitoire extends beyond words of a few syllables....dumb copper that I am.

You say buses weren't an option but then say it would take an extra hour on the bus.

I am making no assumptions here, just staing facts, it is you that is assuming and that brings the inevitable consequences/

Smoking is bad, smoking kills (yes.....its medically proven). People who suffer from smoking related illnesses in this country draw valuable medical funds from those with sicknesses that cant be attributed to individual stupidity.

Look at Jim Bacon, look at Yul Brynner and learn a lesson and stop trying to justify this pervasive (is it in your dictionary ?) and filthy addiction.

Keep your points on toipc and stop being so personal and yes......this is out of control and should be locked off

Lets turn this the other way around.......I ask all you NON SMOKERS how would you feel if the Law was changed back to smoke is allowed everywhere !!!!

Im sure you would put up a stink about it........why cant you all accept the fact that some people smoke (whether it be due to addiction or because they enjoy it) and these people have been banned from smoking indoors for YOUR sake !!!!

Well that won't happen as long as we live in a democracy. I suggest that if you are unhappy living in our democratic society where the majority will prevails then YOU should move elsewhere and take your smoking habit with you.

The thing is WE DID KICK UP A STINK ABOUT IT - the govt. listened, and we got our way. You are now a social outcast if you are a smoker, and the majority of us just don't want you near us. Power in numbers eh?

But I have never said that there should be NO place for smokers. I do accept that you smoke and I'm happy that some provision should be made to allow you to partake of your (as misguided as it may be) enjoyment of a *beep*. In an environment where only your own ilk are effected.

No comment on this, I dont think this is a topic worth getting personal about.

Some of you guy are like brick walls, no reasoning !

OK, which comments were ludicrous? The ones I deliberately put that way? That was to highlight just how ludicrous some of the other posts were. Didn't you notice those?

Some of the "quotes" in your post are taken from other peoples' posts, not mine. So which of my words are polluting the thread exactly? The ones where I state the simple tenet that "the majority rules?"

Starting to agree with VG. And that's a worry :pinch::blink:

"Obviously - didn't I make that clear enough for you? Maybe smoking has eradicated some of your powers or reasoning eh?"

"Now I can't put an oxygen mask or self contained air supply around me when I'm sitting outdoors and eating can you? Oh, that's right you don't have to if you're a smoker 'cos you have your own personal "atmosphere" that follows wherever you go. Well that's fine but just leave me out of your filthy atmosphere OK?"

A reasonable thought till you threw in the brackets

"Only problem you poor smokers have"

"You poor b@stards can't win - if it isn't bad enough that you are killing yourselves by smoking, and not doing it cheaply I might add, but to cap it off you then have the rest of us non-smoking whingers making your (shortened) life miserable in the process."

jetute> You're absolutely right. They were ludicrous comments. Each and every one was meant to be so. Each and every one was directed towards equally ludicrous comments of others. That is why I put their quotes in with my comments for everyone to see.

The point I was making by doing this was to highlight the "ludicrous" nature that the thread was degenerating towards.

As for my sarcasm, yes, a bad trait I have I'm afraid. A very low form of wit. I apologise to any who took some of my sarcastic comments as serious - they were not meant to be so.
