As of yesterday the venerable and esteemed Golden One services my car.

Can not be happier with the service <except for when I heard what it is going to cost me soon to do the suspension :crybaby:  > not to mention the fact I had a bloody good laugh too.

VERY reasonably priced. Quick. Efficient and Very Very Professional.

I heard something interesting the other day, apparently Ford have had guys out at the Drags in Sydney and Melb writing down plates so they can Void the warranties on any XR's they see out there dragging.

I am hearing that the 5 speed boxes aren't up to the horse power.

Does anyone know if Ford are starting to de-tune the XR Turbo's to try and reduce gearbox warranty claims ?

Allegedley some of the Expensive Daewoo dealers were doing the same to the LS1 boys.

I get my car serviced at the dealer I bought it from, so far so good. A couple of minor hiccups but nothing too major. I did though have a bit of a stoush with the same dealer a few years ago over some warranty probs with a second-hand EB I bought from them and swore never to go back there and in fact changed the place at which my work fleet was serviced because of it, but they have different staff working there now so I will continue to go there now unless there is another major clash.

I have heard this before too, so what I am doing is taking the plates off my 1985 subaru sherpa and putting them on the T when I go to the drags. I have never seen anyone taking down number plates though and my T has been to willowbank twice with its plates on and I have had no dramas.

Has anyone noticed that after the Ford 15,000KM service, the Turbos seem flat and don't have the same pick-up as prior to the service ?

I noticed that too after my 30,000 service, oh wait, that was just the wad of paper left in my intake.

Dazza.

Seriously ?

How long did it take for them / you to work that one out ?

Surely they can't be that stupid ???

it took about 20 meters past there driveway and another 20 minutes for them to find the paper wrapped around the turbo finns, and another day to pick and blow all the paper from out of the intercooler. And yes, they are that stupid, they tried telling me it was put there when the part that was replaced was made.

Tiz fact. Nothing allegedley about it. Personally I wouldnt be worried about the car manufactures/dealers noting down your number plate... it would be the fact that insurance companies now do it that I'd be concerned about.

To stop plate exchanges there now looking at writting down vin #'s as well...

So what's a boy to do. You go out to the Drag track to do the right thing and not race / drag on the streets and these B***tard are out there taking away your "Responsible" fun.

I have seen a lot of the testing (destructive) that these gearboxes and Diffs go through and a day at the track is not going to hurt them one bit.

Ford are building these "Muscle" cars, taking short cuts and then trying to penalise the people who buy them and try to use them for what they were designed for (or what we are lead to believe they were designed for). If the Drive train or engine can't take it, DON'T stick a 240KW tag on them and advertise them as a "Muscle" car.

So does anyone know of a good place for Service for the T's in the Sydney West area ?

Anyone had any dealings with Thomson Ford or any of the other Ford dealers in that area ?
