True Reason For Delay

The reason for the delay of the XR8's GT's and Pursuit Utes etc. is due to the fact that the kind folk at Borg Warner in Albury, unfortunatly, have so far faild in designing a gearbox strong enough to survive the incredible power of the new V8's(excluding the Barra 220) this is why these vehicles were delayed, rather than delay the whole lot they'll release them as they can. I guess what I'm trying to say is that unfortunatly it looks like there might yet be further delays.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news

they've already sold out the next 3 months of production they're not even available to dealers to use as demo's until early January

I snipped this from the Ford Forum in a similar thread

When we go back to work on Monday we will be building as many XR6 turbo's as we can. There are capacity limitations on the number we can build per day but we will get as many as we can. The thread about the 300 hour test is rubbish. the reality is that we are holding over 600 retail orders for turbos...remember we were only doing around 300 XR's per month in total prior to BA so we are inundated with demand. Not ideal but that is the price of success.

I was told same by Strapp in Doncaster. No demo Turbo's till at least Jan '03 :( Apparently a lot of sales are hinging on a test drive once delivered! Can't imagine anyone not liking it though

l was wondering what everyone else who is awaiting delivery of an XR6T has been told for delivery date.

Our dealer says the Ford system shows our car being completed and being delivered on Nov 16th, as it has for the past 10 days. However people he has spoken to controlling production are saying no cars have been delivered yet, even those scheduled for delivery before ours. A firm date isn't available but our dealer thinks he may not receive the car until near the end of the month.

Normally this wouldn't bother me too much, but we are selling our car privately and it makes it hard to know what to tell potential buyers. Don't want to hand the car over next week and then have to wait 2 or 3 weeks for the turbo, paying for a hire car!!

Anyone else being told similar things on delays??

I wouldn't count on the 16th Mondie.

My original date was 29th October and has changed 4 times since.

As of yesterday the date is now 18th November but I won't be surprised if it moves again before the end of the week.

My guess is you could be looking late November.
