Guest casgeroth Guests Posted 31/08/04 02:43 AM Share Posted 31/08/04 02:43 AM /me will vote for Labor.I think there needs to be a change.I think it's a shame really that it's a 2 party system. I'd like to see a bit more competition at the top. I think it would bring about more accountability and responsibility, while possibly bringing a greater focus on us the voter and trying to win our vote. They would come to focus on impementing better systems and not focusing on failures of the past. Pointing the finger doesn't get you very far. Learning from mistakes, correcting them and moving on does. While I'm not saying that Labor is faultless, I think they have some good things in mind.As Miyagi said:Pros- Focussing on health and education reform. (Whilst I'm sure I wont agree with everything we need to invest money in our greatest asset)- Younger leader pushing the visionary line, albeit with a lot of smoke and mirrors at this point.- Leader, whilst in the past an arrogant sh*t, has displayed more humility of late (most likely due to his fantastic PR team).Cons- History of bad economic management... I will admit to being too young to fully understand how bad it got, that said I would think Labour would be more focussed on maintaining a strong economy. The economy is strong as it is, and I doubt they will mess with it too much. And yes, this is probably because of the work of current government, but I still think there needs to be a change. My 2c worth :D

Cro, I understand why you might be motivated to do this, but IMHO it's really a waste of time and your right to have an influence on the powers that affect your life.2.2c

Why not vote for your local rep based on the work they have already done or could do (if elected) in your area?... just seems like such a waste to me ... newxr Member 279 Member For: 20y 9m 20d Posted 31/08/04 04:18 AM Share Posted 31/08/04 04:18 AM Ahh.. the 17% interest rate thing really bugs me - I have my home and I am happy with the way prices have increased I have made money. However, I did have a mortage when the rates were 17% - it was easier to afford than if I bought a similar house today. Even with increased salary and reduced interest rates the AFFORDABILITY of property is now much worse than when interest rates were 17%. Yes the libs appear to have managed the economy well however this is only true for those who had jobs, mortgages and assests when they came to power - for the younger ones -Employment : Casual or Part TimeAsset Affordability : Lowest Ever!!Education: Yes if you payHealth : DISASTER (I don't think labor is any better)Foriegn Affairs : With USA/UK With rest of the world Infrastructure: >$1 Billion for Alice - Darwin Rail Link. I will let everybody else judge that one.Farmers/Rural: Its been nice for those in the marginals hasn't it. The rest of us Security - Are you more sacred now than before we went to war?Integrity - I hate the "I did not know" or "I was advised" or "on the advise I had" or for labour "what I said in the past was" or "it was not my intention" - I am not a labour or libral voter - I usually vote for the local guy who has the guts to come a talk to me and says "I will try my best"Opinion : labour by the narrowest marginmy 2.2c
