I reckon it sounds quite good. But what it (may) lose out in sound quality when compared to the EL/AU, it more than makes up for it with the colour screen.

Nothing beats playing V8Supercars in surround sound while you're stuck in traffic...

Just checked the ford website and Premium Sound in the XR is the same as the Fairmont Ghia and Fairlanes, LTS's etc.

150W...only 50W more than what you get in an XT, I know you get amp and sub but still.

So it seems the Premium sound pre BA was alot better, ie 250W, l(ike my dads fairlane)

Way to go ford !!

The decibel is used to compare power differences in voltage, current, watts, sound pressure, etc. Actually, doubling the power produces a very small increase in volume. It's only a 3dB difference. In terms of phonics that's about the lowest audible increase in sound level most of us can hear. So going for a 300 watt unit over a 150 watt unit will not reap you many real rewards. The logarithmic nature of the decibel scale corresponds to the logarithmic nature of human hearing.

Premium sound is just right IMHO. Clarity is there, doesn't get too distorted at high volume, it was a must for me.

Found this thread searching on Premium Sound.

I have BA G220. I cant compare to other Fords sound systems. I agree with comments above.

It helps to have orginal media (eg CD purchased from record shop), not MP3 ripped to disk. There is quite noticable difference between orginal and ripped tracks in sound quality.

Smoke On The Water off original Deep Purple Machine Head CD is a good example to demonstrate just how good Premium Sound is.

holy crap, that's an impressive 13 year :mole:

For an audiophile, the standard system is extremely low par. For a regular user, it's adequate :spoton:

that man deserves a medal for a 13 year old thread :mole:

That pic made me laugh to think that someone actually put an LP player in the car.

What would happen if they had a bumpy road.....

Same, same.
You would have to be on a very smooth road to even contemplate putting on a record.
