G'day,

Just thought to carry on from the above topic on Inlines and V engines, I thought I would ask;

1. What is your favourite engine that you have actually been able to drive / ride / control, and why?

2. What is your least favourite engine and why?

Its important that you have been able to use it rather than know about it or see it, (that's to stop me saying the BMW M5 V10  )

1. 351 4v Cleveland fitted to a 1970 GTHO Ph2.... simply awesome sound and performance. Fuel economy, Who gives a :o

2. Whippersnipper single cylinder recalcitrant POS! It just won't start! Easy Start My :o ......... (as you can tell I've just been trying to use it :o )

Cheers,

Cameron

Favourite engine of all time-Windsor 289 4v

-free revving little unit, won thousands of races wordwide ,good power and if you've ever heard a 64-66 Mustang historic racer, you know how good they can sound!Favourite I've driven/owned 351 Cleveland lots of torque and phat/flat bark, and very few people game to take it on.

Worst engine of all time-Opel 1900

-in an LH Torana Scumbird with an auto trans-a smokey, gutless, prehistoric ,evil boat anchor you could beat in a drag race on your skateboard.

Favorite would have to be the one in BOOF that I just wrote off, 380kw's and awesome power delivery with a nice note. My 351c had a better sound but not the same sort of power.

Worst would have to be a little model car I got when I was a kid. I had wanted it for ages and finally got it for xmas one year. The fcuker wouldn't start, I kept trying with the starter cord till my fingers were blistered and bleeding. I actually got it to run once some time latter and it went for all of 20 meters and stopped, the only time it ran. I tried everything including pulling it apart and no luck.

Geea. :glad:

Best engine would have to be the XR8 Boss 260, resons is that its the best thing ive gone for a ride/driven in, love the sound of the engine going from 3000rpm all the way to 6000rpm... pure lust

worst engine would be an old vh a friend of mine had that I drove for a while since he didnt have his P's, you would give it a bit while sitting in 2nd and it would shudder and splurt and then give a little bit of response, but was totally gutless, my XF would have run rings around it, and its pretty well bashed too....

Favourite would have to be the 351 Clevland that dad had in his White XC Fairmont GXL with GS kit. Was rather large in power, about 400Hp apparently :glad: ...The way it chewed fuel it wanted to be! Was brilliant, and backed by a tricked out 3 speed auto and high diff, BOY did I have some fun it that while he was in Sydney :D

The worst engine ever? Would have to be the Nissan CA20E in the R31 Pintara I had before this. The first day I got it, the distributor lunched itself. About three days later and it dropped two valves. Leaving me stranded on the highway with a semi bearing down on me. Then after it go machined and reseated (or whatever) valves etc the bas*ard began to overheat and there was more oil in the Radiator than the sump!

Ended up taking out the thermostat and driving it up over the Great Dividing Range from Casino to Tenterfield (it got up in one piece, was impressed!) but by the time I was honing in on Stanthorpe it was reaching for the heavens again.

The KA24E in this bloody Pintara isn't much better, its a RELATIVELY torquey 4 but it has this massive torque whole between 2600 and 3000. Makes it hard to use 5th to overtake as 1000K=2500 :glad:

Go the ol 250 :glad: .... well maybe :glad:

Actually THE most gutless, hated, piece of crap, do we have to take that I'd rather walk engine and associated car I have EVER had the liberty of sterring would have to be mum's horrible, disgusting, shiver inspiring 1984 Auto Mazda 929 with approximately Eleventy Squillion Kilometers, powered by the best that LPG has to offer.

DOG OF A CAR

Goldie, (Ian) can testify to its, errrr, sh*teness! Trust me, when I say I'd rather walk...Its in dire straights

Also, the funnest engine I have had the chance of experiencing (not driving) would be GOLDIE'S sheer grunt, especially going up Panorama :glad: MORE, I NEEDS MORE CAPTAIN! :spit:

Best engine I owned was in a Charger E38 with the tripple webbers. It was an ex racecar and was about 370hp, and had the BIG Dana diff and 130lt race tank and E49 4 speed. It was like it was possesed, would just want to rev.

The worst engine would be my 4 stroke lawnmower that really needs some forced induction as it is too gutless
