Hi All,

Has anyone upgarded their exhaust system on the XR6T?

If so:

1. What was the system installed

2. How much was it

3. What power benefit was noticed

4. Did the exhaust note improve

Thanks

Ok, heres some more specific questions:

- what diameter is the piping?

- what size is the catalytic convertor?

- is the system heat wrapped, are there any heat issues with the new exhaust?

- is the system mandrel bent?

- how many mufflers/resonators are in the system and what type are they?

- do you notice a 'seat of the pants' improvement?

- does the system drone at various RPM points?

Thanks,

Kris.

Auto 3.5 inch, Manual 3.0 inch, a gain of 10-15 kw, as Chris mentioned we will know for sure this weekend at the Dyno day. These figures where giving to me by two well known performance exhaust shops.

Why would the Auto have a larger exhaust?

Please use your heads, they ( Auto and manual )

both have they exact same setup.

You should be looking at a 3'5 exhaust,

nothing under that.

remember it is a 4ltr 6 turbo.

It's funny someone mentioned a change in the exhuast system between the manual and the auto. A salesman I spoke to believes the auto has a different bend to it to get past the box, and so sounds louder and deeper.

Now call me crazy, but the first car I heard was an auto and it did sound louder than susequent manuals I have heard. Or have he, and I, lost the plot?

This may be a stupid question but I dont know a great deal in exhaust upgrade benefits. I want to upgrage the exhaust but I dont want to make the car any louder, or only a minor rise in the exhaust level. Is increasing the diameter of the piping and then adding an extra resonator or muffler to quit it down going to nullify any power gains or will it still be ok.

Both performance shops I spoke to both had dyno's and both told me the exact same thing 3inch for manual 3.5inch for auto, something to do with setup on the auto is different hence the larger diameter exhaust.

You might be on to something there. I originally test drove a manual XR6T, but subsequently ordered a an auto. When I picked the car up I thought the exhaust on mine sounded louder than the manual but put it down to me being over excited about the new car!
