Sounds good to me. Last cruise through there had some awesome driving through that area. Should we start a new topic for the cruise?

Guest 0503XR6Turbo Guests Posted 22/08/05 10:12 AM Share Posted 22/08/05 10:12 AM Can anyone tell me where in Adelaide I can get a transmission cooler fitted to my XR6T what is the better brand and should I bypass the one in the radiator and only have the fitted one with the trans oil going through it. I have heard the one in the radiator has been known to crack and let water go in the lines which infects the transmission ouch expensive repair. I have rang around but there is not one made for the Turbo by ford or an aftermarket version. Has anyone had one fitted and if so where and who is the best person to do it? Any info would be appreciated

I have rang around but there is not one made for the Turbo by ford or an aftermarket version. Has anyone had one fitted and if so where and who is the best person to do it? Any info would be appreciatedhad mine originally fitted at Modbury Auto Trans & Diff Specialists... I think they are also (or were) known as SA RACE Transmissions. opposite MORPOWA.They have a number of different sizes and styles, depending on what your intentions are for your car (eg circuit racing, drag racing, towing etc etc)MORPOWA relocated it in its current position when they fitted the APS intercooler and retuned my unichip. There have been issues with the in-radiator cooler blowing, but the problem by NOT using the in-radiator cooler in series, depends on whether you do a lot of stop start, city crawling. The in-radiator cooler provides thermostat fan air flow cooling, whereas if you bypass it, there is no temp regulation control of trans fluid at all. NOT a problem if car is always in motion, eg hwy driving, circuit racing. If you do bypass the in-radiator trans cooler, I'd be whacking a temp sensor on the return line to at least monitior it in your typical driving patterns to have some quantitaive assurance there is NOT an issue. We get some damn HOT weather in Adelaide. If you're condfident that the bypass works well enough, then alls well.I haven't got around to testing mine yet, that's why I have NOT bypassed the radoator cooler. I hope to receive a scan tool soon to do a bit of R&D, monitor the trans cooler performance with and without the radiator cooler. If temp remains within a safe level with external trans cooler alone, I'll then bypass the radiator system. I currently run a huge 580x110 maxicooler in front of my APS IC, and although the trans (cooler) is getting nice cool air, I am compromising the efficiency of the intercooler. Don't really want to do that, now do I? NEED MORE POWERSo what are you doing with your car, Going for a power update?cheerstom
