The bloke that used to work on my old Jaguar had a superbly equipped workshop with everything except a hoist. He did everything with jacks and stands. He had a spare creeper for customers to go under the car so he could show them in detail the work he was doing etc. He liked to get the customer involved eg, when he had the motor out of my car, he suggested it was an ideal opportunity to paint the engine bay and I was welcome to use his w'shop on the weekend to do it. Of course, I did.

I always wondered why he didn't invest in a hoist, but he said he'd done without one for so long, it wasn't a priority. He had a reputation among Adelaide Jaguarphiles as the best, but he was fussy about the cars he worked on. If the car wasn't up to his standards, he wouldn't touch it. Unfortunately, he died suddenly and prematurely.....life's like that....

Maybe working on Jags did him in Zeke.Nice cars alright but very hard to work on I believe.I heard somewhere once that to replace a 5.3 V12 starter motor the whole engine has to come out!Theres a nice white XJ6 series 2 getting around here with V8 power, lowered, big rims: very nice and a supercharged XKR in burgundy owned by one of the winery people and I can tell you its very very fast!

Now Zeke, how did he die suddenly?Dont tell me it had something to do with not having a hoist :spoton:

Ive never used car ramps before,so I get a pair, the fcuken things wont fit under the T so I had to knock up some ramps, aint tried it yet.

Getting the trolly jack under the T is such a pain then stands etc to change the oil..wish I had a pit... so will give the ramps a go.

Don't need a pit... or ramps or trolley jacks.....

Just drive the car up with one side on the curb.... plenty of clearance to get under and change the oil / filter.

but then again, vik, how's that diet going....

might have to cut back on the cheese kransky....
